We are trying to figure out on MyLaps how to unregister the transponder that came with my 968 so I can register it to my name. Neither Jim the previous owner or myself can see anywhere on MyLaps to do this.
Anyone know how to do this?

Call the manufacturer. They will put you in touch with the parent company, in Holland I think. They have to do it there. I costs $50-60.
I really won't matter whether you change it or not. The sanctioning body posts times by registered driver's name using that Transponder number.

Hey Gary,
WE sell AMB....from what they have told us it is next to impossible
to assign a registerted transponder from one user to another.
AMB now called MYLaps totally controls the market.
I more than agree that this hardly seems fair.

However if when I register for an event the transponder's reading's from the car I bought show up in my results on MyLaps then it wont be quite so bad.

It used to be possible to transfer for a fee, like Randy said; I guess they've eliminated that option??

Have fun trying to figure out how to get your lap times on Mylaps. I guess it will help since the PO might give you his username and password. Still though, it is unfortunate that they are not capable of transfers. I can imagine it would be a huge PITA for them but why not pay somebody $0.25 an hour in China to do it and charge $50-60.00 per transfer.
I've had two transponders and two different myaps accounts. It is frustrating, but interesting to see what the new owner is doing as far as laptimes in my old car.

When I bought my 996 (October 2009) I moved the transponder over to my name without issue. I emailed customer service on mylaps, paid $50 or something, and it was done. They may be a little slow to respond, but it got done quickly once initial contact was made.
No drama here, just send the email.

They probably has a poor database design keyed off the serial number and they have to do a lot of work to redirect. Otherwise, I can't see why there would be a problem.
