Why the sadness? This just means the cars can go to new homes. I think the estate tax is an important one and so did Thomas Jefferson.

“There is...an artificial aristocracy founded on wealth and birth, without either virtue or talents.... The artificial aristocracy is a mischievous ingredient in government, and provisions should be made to prevent its ascendancy.” Thomas Jefferson

I also find it a bit odd that most of his collection is modern cars.... I would think a wealthy east coast real estate investor would have LOTS of bad *** cars from say the 60's on.....

Just looking the collection I would guess it belonged to a Dot com billionaire who likes to race Ferrari's

Yep, Benny was a true enthusiast and "car guy" who shared his cars with us on the track!

I was in NYC one week for a conference three years ago. We were taking a cab back to the hotel around 11 PM at night driving by the Ferrari dealership, they were unloading his MC12 Maserati. There were four of us in the cab, I screamed at the driver to stop and nearly got hit jumping out of the car to run into the dealership.

I was shooting some cell camera pics of the car and one of the dealership folks said the owner was "right over there." It was Benny. I had no idea who he was so I asked if he ever had the MC12 out on the track. He said "no I usually take the 333 out on the track or one of my 3 F40's...." The bull**** meter started to peg until he said "I buy all my cars from her" (one of the sales ladies) Looking to her she just shook her head "yes."

He was very nice to talk with and I'll never forget the half hour of hearing about all of his cars. It does go to show that you can't take it with you.....enjoy our cars while we can.

Way back in the day- when the tire of choice was a BFG-R1 and the fastest car was a blue 944 named "the beast", I was on track with Benny at Bridgehampton. Benny was driving his F40 (was probably a Metro event) and he was so slow that I almost ran into the back of his car. I remember saying to myself, holy ****, that car is wide.... but it was magnificent.

I believe he had 38 Ferrari's. He was very nice until you passed him on the track. lol He might have know where Hoffa was buried. I remember a day at Pocono; he brought the yellow Enzo. The next time I saw him he had his red one. He drove until he couldn't anymore. A real car guy for sure. I remember one day his F40 was sitting in pit lane at Limerock. I wondered what they would do to me if I jumped in and took it on track. I decided it was better not to find out.

Thats about all Pocono long course is good for...stretching legs. I was out with Benny about 10 years ago in the F40LM and F40GTE, and we hit 180 on the back straight and I pretty much called it quits. IN passenger seat is not much fun. But its intense with that much power spooling up about 8" behind your head. Benny even had a passenger seat "fitted" into the 333sp to give rides, although I never opted in for that ride. Benny used to have a late 90's Ferrari F1 car, but he always was happy just going around in the 355Ch back in the day.

There is also a father/son that run a 333sp out of a 24' enclosed trailer in the tristate area, although I have not been to those events in a few years, so not sure if they still have the car and attend.

Here's a link with info on him, and video from Cavallino Classic Track Day at Palm Beach International Raceway with an interview with Benny.
