Yup! Isn't it awesome? Sucks that the FIA dipwads still are aiming for a June race date, given the climate here, though...

15 months if the FIA sticks to the homologation reqs.
I hope this doesn't turn into another Korea...skeptical at best, but I hope they pull it off.

It would be nice to bring F1 back into the states... Such a shame that they can not utilize WGI or one of the existing venues.

Where did they find those hills in Texas for the elevation change?

An honest mistake -- 21 years ago when I moved to Austin, I figured it was John Wayne and tumbleweeds like your photo suggests.

Not even close -- although a couple hours west of here you can see tumbleweeds,
and by the coast it does flatten out -- or 8+ hours away in the panhandle.

But the Austin area has some great twisties and open air scenery.

National Geographic lists it as one of its top road trip regions.

http://travel.nationalgeographic.com...xas-road-trip/

Ironically, the F1 site is in some of the flatter sections in the area :-)

You need to make a road trip and enjoy the drives!

Boxstoberfest is an incredible opportunity to join ~100 porsches each fall
for guided cruising in the Hill Country.

They Call It the Hill Country Lyrics
Artist(Band):Randy Rogers Band

The hills of cow gap stood rugged and awesome
But you have to have fill dirt when you're building a road
And the hills of cow gap, they weathered the ages
Got wiped off the map for 12 dollars a load

Chorus: They call it the hill country, I call it beautiful
I'd call it progress if it could be saved
They call it the hill country I call it home
But what will they call it
When it's levelled and paved?

Uncivilized pagans drank untreated water
Right out of our rivers back in their day
Now those streams bubble with clean treated sewage
While they sit in their hotubs and they sip perrier.

Chorus

Scrape off the hilltops build look alike houses
Move in some people and turn on the TV
After the ball game turn on some old movies
They'll smile when they see how things use to be.

Chorus
Repeat Chorus
