I run R888 on a 914-6 track car. DO yourself a favor go with the Toyo RA 1's. The R888's suck!! The only reason I switched is because toyo discontinued the RA-1's and have since brought them back. By the way Beautiful car!!!
Yup. R888's are total pieces of crap for competition. They can work well, briefly, but that's about it. They have a very small sweet-spot when it comes to car setup, they overheat easily, and they fall off sharply after 12-16 heat cycles. I picked up a solid 2-3 seconds per lap at Miller in '09 from going from good condition 6-month-old 20 heat-cycle R888's to beat-to-hell 30+ heat-cycle 3-year-old RA-1's, and other tracks have shown similar results for my car and others. Toyo made a lemon and it's called the R888.
RA-1's are good tires, but Nitto NT-01's give you the same compound and performance without the Toyo-tax.
