Just either create a folder named DCIM or rename the video folder DCIM.

If it's renamed will the Smartycam still use it or will it create a new video folder for recordings (or worse, just not store video)? Or are you saying just rename it for the import, then restore it to "video" when done?

I would suggest importing the video fine to your computer an then renaming the folder. If you change it on the card and use it in smartycam, a new video folder should be created.

Excuse my iPad ignorance, but can you do the renaming on the iPad? If not I may as well just get a laptop and be done with it...

No, you can't rename the folder with an iPad. So we (AiM) need to start storing the videos in a folder called DCIM, like digital cameras do. So hopefully when the iPad2 comes out (rumored February), we'll have it all sorted out.

Just an FYI-

I have the Ipad and the "Camera Connection kit". I can take the SDHC card out of the GoProHD camera and directly import to the Ipad without a computer. Makes it cool to watch your race in HD at the track instantly. I do it on the fly all the time.

What is the directory structure of the GoPro SD? I assume it stores the video in a DCIM folder? Also what is the format, again assuming it's .MOV? Sounds like AIM is going to make some changes, hopefully in the next month or so, that will allow easy connectivity.

I use my I-pad to down load my video from my replay. Required no extra software or steps. Just connected the cable and it downloaded to I-photo and played in same. you cold either use the usb cable or the faster sd card adapter. It is really nice to have video instantly available on a good size screen.

What format do you save in, .MOV or .AVI?

Ipad is just a large Iphone (without the phone)... now that they have just updated to multi task (even that has limitations) plus it doesn't have Flash... apart from reading and viewing vids, I really don't know why I pulled the trigger on one, I'm sure the next generation will be a big step up.

I won't do anything until Ipad2 is out either way but chances are I will just pick up a used MacBook Pro on Craigslist to keep in my trailer, just checked and there are tons out there for less than a well equipped iPad..

Can't go wrong with them... I'm Mac everything as I run a Design & Print business... you can do all your movie editing in iMovie also, it's pretty basic but all integrated with the likes of iPhoto & iTunes so you can do a lot of basic editing... I put together this little reverse cam edit as I was running 2 separate cameras, it was done in 5/10min tops http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeVYrRKvwlA
