Make it thru the year without blowing a motor or tranny ...

Hope to compete with the Nor Cal boys a few times in 11' and win some of their tires too....

If you knew anything about track driving you would know that it is bad form for a back marker to interfer with a driver in championship contention. You should immediately concede the position and waive me by. (Sorry inside joke from the Fernando Alonso apologists).

In that case Petrov should've used the "burst into flames...." quote from the flat out video, for Alonso.
A crazy end to an exciting year.

In 2010 I did 16 track days with my '97 993C2 and an additional day driving a Formula Renault open wheeler. I went through two sets of tires, brakes, a drive belt as well as oil and gas. If in 2011, I do half of what I did in 2010, I will be happy. It was a great summer in 2010, I learned a lot. But dang not a cheap sport.

I need to find a cheaper hobby, maybe watching the grass grow will do the trick.

What track do you run out there? Is there any outfits that rent race cars for lapping events for that track?

My goal is to spend more money on driving than repairs. If next year is like this year I may be parking the car for awhile.

I also 'FLAT OUT' 'DEMAND' that all my competitors give me a point by. Team Orders!

<---Going to get SCCA racing license and race the Spec Miata. Any reccomendations on a good SCCA (preferably double) schools would be great. It appears I might have a conflict with the Wash DC school date in March

My DE ambitions are to hopefully get sponsored to become a PCA instructor and would love to add Calabogie to my bucket list.

SCCA honors NASA race licenses so that may be an alternate path for you. Spec Miata is huge in NASA out West, how about in DC?....

To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

I was driving at Calgary's Race City Speedway (a track located within city limits) but 2011 could be the facilities last year. We just don't know yet if the city will save our track or expand the adjacent landfill. As far as renting, the Allen Berg Racing School operates out of this facility during most summer months. You can use their Formula Renault cars, their Legends oval racers or their karts. Allen also runs road car lapping sessions but you need to provide your own car. But who knows maybe Allen knows where a road car racer could be rented. You would need to contact him if you were going to be out this way sometime during the summer.

BTW: if you don't know the name, Allen remains only 1 of 3 Canadians who has competed on the modern Formula One circuit (he briefly was in F1 in the mid 80s). The other two Canadians had some Villenueve name ... I don't know don't think either one of those two Villeneuves did much with their time in F1 ... just kidding.
