I think the car can make anyone go fast.. but then there is another personality of it.. a little bit extra i didn't expect... a real beast..... guess thats why they call it godzilla..
Indeed impressive pace Leh!!
Were you able to keep that pace for consecutive laps (moré than 2)? If not what faded first? (tires, brakes?)

These are the tires that normally come on the GT-R. They stick like glue compared to the Dunlop All Seasons. It would be scary to think the laptime that Leh could put down with these!!!

Awesome driving! Leh, since you've probably done some quick laps in 997 Turbo or even 7 GT2, where is the Nissan picking up all that time? Is it going into, middle, or coming out of the corner?

Amazing drive, Leh! Your speed up the esses is downright scary... and only 2 laps in the car.

Poor tires were getting punished, and the moisture was probably the only thing that prevented spontaneous tire combustion!

I am curious what the tranny fluid temps were doing. The display diagnostics on that car are pretty impressive.

Did you get any dash warnings about tranny fluid overheating?

Mad, mad skilz!

The Fontana Nissan GTR that they run at the Redline Time Attack events on the west coast has something ridiculous like 10 oil coolers for the various differentials, transmission and things to keep it from going into limp mode in 90+ degree weather. The one event I was "crew" for them they were running stock brakes with Endless pads and fluid.

My guess is that it handles great on the straights!

I wonder what his top speed was on the back straight?

I haven't in 7's... but i do have alot of time in the TopSpeed GT2... although its a 996 its pretty much a 997 (or even more) underneath....

The GTR is more easy to just throw into a corner.. and if it gets out of shape its easy to bring it back without losing much time.. where as the GT2 would be more of a "problem" to sort out when its trying to slide off the track... Power down is unreal with the GTR... it stick in every way.... Obvi Porsche are great to with the weight on the rear but still not as good as the GTR coming out of lower speed corners... The braking was better in TopSpeeds GT2.. but thats what weight will do for you!...

As far as straight line speed.. i saw right around 160 on the back straight... This GTR was making about 10 or 15 more hp at the wheels then a stock 997 GT2 does.... GT2 being lighter i would imagine the straight line speeds would be pretty close...

So in short.. i would say the GTR makes up most of its time from Apex to track out compared to a 997 GT2...

TopSpeeds GT2 would lap faster then a 2:02....

Thanks for the breakdown Leh. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one wondering how such a heavy car is capable of throwing down the lap times it does.

i dont know to much about the car really...
Driving it at VIR like you've done nothing else the last 3 months

Thanks for posting, It's more like a 997TT with PDK and taoque vectoring I figure...I had a GTR in Aug '08 and sold it immediately to get GT3, just not trusting the longevity at the track.
I would take it over a 997TT for daily street driving...
