Thunderhill 25 HR...
who's going?
I'm driving again now that my "work" is out of the way...time to party on the track.
My MX-5 Cup #36 will be in E1 again this year, last year we started something like 44th overall and ended up 15 or so, it was a hectic, cold, dusty, cold, slam banging good time. DP35 is going- who else is gonna be there?
sharing some gossip...
paul walker is going to be driving in an MX-5 cup...I can't wait to see how he reacts to the club racing crowd jeering him.

Sigh, I'll miss it yet again it appears. I get back from Hawaii just as it's starting up. I know Rich Walton, Johannes and many of the Flying Lizards crew will be racing a 2010 cup for Mercer Motorsports and looking to try and win 2 years in a row.

I just had to post because seeing pictures of the field makes me giggle. I was with the Caterham team last year that started 50th and finished 3rd overall. (Didn't even make it around the corner to be in the start picture) How that little car beat all that impressive machinery is just silly.
Unfortunately, we won't be back this year.

I may stop in for a visit to watch the Mercer Motorsports guys, a local Spec 911 and many other friends. By the way, Mr. Ichiban, I have some friends who will likely be timing and scoring... two of them are huge Tampa Bay fans, but I don't think they will hold anything against you (they are related to the TB manager)!

I will be there once again, running the the slow but steady EL-class BMW E30 eta. Last year we just ran the 6 hour but this year we are back with a slightly bigger team, ready to run the full 25. Just ran the car in the 12 hours of the Cascades a couple weeks back and working on getting all of our plans finalized for THill as we speak.
Would be great to meet you CJ... didn't get a chance to come looking for you last year. We'll be there starting on Thursday for open practice. Just look for the lowest budget team around!

That's quite the turnabout from what I had previously heard. I was told he was looking at either a GT3 or M3 that was going to be purchased from GMG. Then I heard he was having license issues because his only racing experience is in Redline Time Attack. Sounds like he worked it out and picked steed.

Yep, the car is fully street legal and has both plates as req'd by Oregon law. Here in the PNW it is driven to and from the track, even 3 hours to Seattle and back after a race weekend. I think it has only been on a trailer two or three times EVER, and one of those was towing to THill last year. It sips fuel and can go farther than just about anything on the 10 gallon fillups allowed by limited class rules. It is lighter than my 944 and has more power and torque too. Not as fun to drive IMHO, but it is reliable and just keeps on going.
The problem is all those cars in the photo blew by me within 2 seconds of that picture being taken! The speed differential with the 911 Cup cars at the end of the front straight has to be upwards of 50mph.

I know that Mercer/Lizards and World Speed are both preparing 2010 Porsche Cup cars for the 25 (seat avail in WS car - $30K), and I heard a rumor that someone's bringing a prototype that they predict will do 170mph on the front straight. That'll be fun as it constantly passes packs of cars going half as fast.
