Trakcar, nice driving-you're not too far off the time of a friend of mine that drives a 996 Cup Car-very nice times for a street car!
I hired a coach one time at Sebring and will do so again as soon as business gets better.

It was nice to meet you this weekend Mark and talk to you about your tow rig. Re: T5, I agree with LD that it appears you could probably turn in a little earlier and remember to look ahead to help get down to the apex. Not to say that you aren't looking ahead, but I constantly have to remind myself after 12 years of doing this. Also, T5 seems very slippery when you take the wide (correct) line. I used to take that wide line to try to get the biggest arc but have found that if I moved 1 car width toward the center, I get a little better grip. You appeared to move more toward the center in the second video. I coudln't tell if you were overbraking from the video but overheated and fading brakes can be a symptom. I wouldn't think you should have experienced any fade in T5 for the amount of braking time there. FWIW, I do a quick stab with the left foot brake at T5 just to transfer the weight to the front. Good luck. Hope to see you at an event in the future.

Mike, it was nice to meet you also. Thanks for the input on turn 5. I've always taken the wide arc as you mention. I will experiment with a tighter/earlier turn this weekend. I haven't had any problems with brakes on that turn as I just tap the brakes to load the front the same as you mentioned.
For anyone that is interested, I've posted a couple pics of my new 2010 Touareg TDI. It pulled my trailer and car (roughly 5000 lbs) like a dream. Plenty of torque and absolutely no instability, which was something I had worried about given the short wheel base. I've only had the truck for 3 weeks, but am already loving it.
Does anyone know if it has similar suspension/handling capability to the Cayenne? It seems to handle really nicely, as is the case for the other VW's I've owned.

I also had a good time "Playing" with some other GT3RS (Peter, Gavin, Antoine and Sebastien) at Sebring this weekend.

Mark,
As others have said, your turn in's are late in some turns. Here is a link to my fastest to date (2:23) at Sebring in my Boxster S. It might help you.

Your braking issues are weird as I've been racing the Boxster S since 2003 at Sebring and (knock on wood) have never had any fade or soft pedal. Strangely enough I run the stock air scoops, SS Brake Lines, Pagid Blacks, Super Blue until last month now SRF. I think as LD said, you have to shorten up your brake zones so that you hit the pedal hard at top speed and slowly come off the brakes. In data acquisition graph form, imagine a sharp spike up and then after a peak it tails off slowly over time.

Mark, what's your student's name? Curious as I have a few friends that are pro cyclists that enjoy hitting the track. Last year a friend of mine, Christian Vande Velde, came down to texas for the Pat Long event. It was his first time out but he did very well. The top pro cyclists really have to know how to carve a line down a mtn at 60+mph, which translates well to road racing.
