My first DE even in NHMS Loudon NH. Please advice.
Hey my fellow P-race lovers,
Please help the novice for the first time on DE event:
I have MY05 997 C2S. Stock 19s PS2s, everything is stock, fresh oil and brake fluids.
My goal is to:
1. Smoothness and safety
2. Keep the right line
3. Listen my instructor
Any big "DONT's" and "DOs"?
- tire pressure during an event
- should I take spare front and rear tires with me?
- any "warming" or "cooling" procedures?
- extra pair of underwear?
Thank you all for valuable inputs. Safe driving!

Kisk,
1. Read all the info available at the NCR PCA website for the event. It'll cover almost everything.
2. Get there BEFORE 7:30 AM so you have plenty of time to empty your car, put on your #s and go through the tech line. (make sure the tech form is complete and SIGN it)
3. If your tires can pass inspection they should easily last two days (unless you drive FLAT OUT)
4. Tire pressures vary greatly based on a million variables. Start apx. 4 lbs. less than your target pressure and check them right after your first run. Bleed to your target psi and take notes on where they started and where they end up. Not sure what that would be for your car and tires, but someone there will put you in the ball park. Maybe even your instructor.
5. You will have a warm up lap at the beginning of each session and a cool down lap at the end when the checker comes out. Your instructor will probably drive the first few laps of the first session so ASK QUESTIONS of him/ her.
6. Please make sure ALL HOSES AND CLAMPS are in top condition. Antifreeze on the track is a major buzz kill and you will not make friends if it comes from your car.
7. Extra underwear is always a good idea at a multiple day event
You will have a blast. Nice people and some very good instructors. Look me up & say hi.

If brake pad material is thickness of backing plate or less, I highly recommend putting in new brake pads. And if not known when last brake bleeding occurred, that would be another go thing to do.
Listen to your instructor. Ask questions. Listen to your instructor. Stay hydrated. Listen to your instructor. Have fun.

I'll be there with my Pawxster.
Stop by and introduce yourself and of course to ask any Qs.
It sounds like you have a very good attitude toward your first DE. You're going to have a blast. Weather is looking pretty good. See you soon.

Watch video of the track. There's plenty on Youtube and probably Trackpedia. You'll have to screen out SCCA video as they do not run the south chicane and go up on the NASCAR oval instead . Your goal with the video is just to visually see where it goes right and left and where it is blind (turn 5, turn 8 and 9) so you can use your time on track to get on line rather than figure out where the next turn goes.
I'd also bring a tire crayon, or chalk, to mark your side walls before each run. It's a very basic, but somewhat effective, way to judge where your tire pressures should be.
You have the right attitude, have fun!

Thank you all local NEers for your support and answers!
If you see a very cautious Midnight Blue 997 with shiny wheels (without a smell of brake dust) on 10/11-12, it would be me.

Dennis provided a pretty good list. I would also suggest when you come down into the paddock around the garages, claim a space along the fence where you can unload your gear (cooler, lawn chair, jacket, etc). Also, when in doubt don't hesitate to ask. People are very willing to help you. Be sure to say hi, I'll be the guy running the tech line a collecting your signed & stamped tech form. See you Monday

All of the advice given is good but if you want to win your DE you must look deep within yourself grasshopper.
Relax, just let it happen and you will have a great time.....and be hooked.
