Race Car
you'd think they could utilize more than just a few camera shots they kept replaying over and over

Nice shots and idea to make a comparo like this but I can't help to think this has a lot of PR/marketing canned message from the official factory driver. I've never driven a GT3 much less a RSR so don't have any grounds to say this is just marketing vs close to reality. The GT3 IS my dream car, so I want to believe the day I get one I'll be driving a true race car...

Nice one for Quixx! Pat quoted "flat out" in the Road and Track seqment. Awesome!
[edit: did I read the info right - RSR is almost 20 seconds faster on 3 mile course with slicks? I guess that shows my ignorance, as I thought it would be a little closer! ]

20 seconds? let's see, at our track, Monticello, Patrick Long did a 2min18sec lap in a grand am spec 997.1 cup S. my guess is a stock gt3 would do about 2min45sec at best. RSR probably 5 seconds quicker than the cup S. anyone else have actual data from tracks where all three cars have run?

Seems about right to me. His best was a 1:48 in qual at Miller. I just turned a 2:03 there last weekend, 15 seconds slower. A GT3 on street tires should be another 5 seconds behind me. Where did you read the times?...

are those "DOT"s he is using on the GT3, DOT street tires or DOT race tires. I know even at laguna, the GT3s are in the 1:38 to 1:39 range, on DOT race rubber. (Angelelli and another pro did this for a magazine) in street rubber form, like a real street tire, all bets are off. maybe a 1:42 at the very best. Remember WCGT a few years back? Van Overbeek, fitzgerald, in the motorsport upgrade cups on street rubber, could barely break 1:40 in the race.
as soon as those guys went to real DOT race rubber, the times dropped down to the 1:34-5s. (toyo RA1s)
