Default Formula 1 USA - Austin track releases master plan

Conceptual use of the track is starting to come to light. No sign of external clubs getting to use it for DE's etc.

http://formula1unitedstates.com/masterPlan.html

Driving/Riding Experience and Seminar Building: The facility and racetrack will provide the ideal location for manufacturers to test, launch and educate dealers as well as consumers. The facility will feature classroom settings, virtual driving experiences and will provide the opportunity for test-driving on the racetrack, streets and off-road courses.

Motorsports Driving Club: The membership-only club will serve as a luxury destination featuring an array of hospitality services and amenities. The club will offer its members professional instruction, customized driving courses, premium car story and concierge level services.

Kart Track: The outdoor karting track will be designed to provide an experience for youth and adults of all ages. The track, open to the public, will specialize in orchestrating custom group events, team building programs, celebratory events, fund-raisers as well as individual experiences.

Another kart track in TX ... I hope they put some thought into it, like they did at Miller

Another?

It'll be the only one.

I like living in Houston, and visiting Austin, it's a short trip.

Is the Private Membership Only model really a better business idea than the traditional setup? We're seeing new tracks come in under this plan (Monticello, Autobahn) and older established facilities converting to it (Lime Rock, Moroso....). Now Austin will be private?

Just because it says Membership-Only Club doesn't mean there won't be DE events. Autobahn has always been a membership-based club too, but they accepted DE events from day one.

Granted, they may keep the Austin track exclusive; who knows. But I would tend to doubt it since DE groups bring in a nice regular source of income, plus the website states "year-round functionality."

Negative. December, presuming the FIA fairies bless the plan.
