sunday is right.
1. each tire brand is different a 315 hoosier R6 is really a 305 for example.
2. 1/2" rim difference is not going to be a prob. your tire will not fail. but do use a pyrometer to see if you are getting max benefit.
3. i have ran 315 R6 and 315/305toyos on 11" and 12" CCW's.

That was my point, but it seems like mdrums' main desire is to reduce his rolling diameter. I was just making sure my math was right.

This info might also draw out additional responses. SundayDriver is on it - will it give you an 'effective' (read: greater speed and/or handling) increase in contact patch? I think that the main question here (but you might be after, remedying, something totally different and particular to your car and track)... Interested & thx for the posts.
My only goal is to have the best combo possible. I've been running the 245/305 combo for years but it was suggested to me to get the 255/315 combo because:
1- smaller diameter will basically lower the car 1/2"
1- smaller diamter will gear down the car for better accelleration

I believe this but wonder buy how much and if it really matters and even though the 255/315 tires are a little bit wider, will that really matter anyway?

Minimum rim width is 11.5" for the 335/30 18

Ummmm...confused here....315/30/18 specs say 11.5" max rim width. I never considered 335/30/18 size....not sure I need that wide of a tire or if it will even fit.

305/35 18 RA1 rim size 10/11/12 " rim all work.

315/30 18 Hoosier R6 11/12" rim

315/35 18 Kumho V710 10.5 to 12.5" rim

85gold, I'd love to run Hoosiers or so sorry of slick but I drive my car to and from the track hence my use of RA1 and or R888 tires.

What size would you pick for my car?

IIRC?? You need a taller rear tire on the 997.2 so I would run 305/35 18 and 245/40 18 RA1's. This what you are running now and I see no reason to change.

I don't know about the US, but in most countries, insurance companies and the cops check on whether the load ratings meet the manufacturer's specifications, if they don't then you can find yourself without an insurance claim and an expensive citation, or worse.... so if driving to the track on the same tyres, think about the load rating issue....
Also, for DE, the less grip the tyres have, the more fun you have
