FS: TONS of great stuff for a 997
Lately I've had to carefully consider my budget and goals for my track time and I think I've come to the conclusion that the best way for me to have some real fun and maintain a reasonable budget is to more to an older vehicle. For what this thing is costing me I think I'd have just as much fun, if not more, in a 964 or 993 (maybe even a 911 with a 3.6!). Anyway, taking off all the goodies and they're up for grabs to anyone interested. Used less than 6 months and 3-5 track days depending on the part.
Prices are in Canadian but US is pretty close at the moment.
RSS Rollbar - Black - $1100
Cargraphic Lowering springs for OEM shocks - $300
Schroth GT3 Profi II harness *NEW* Black - $300
Schroth Enduro Profi II harness *NEW* Black - $500
GT3 Lower control arms (incl. many shim sizes) - $600
WEVO Semi Solid Motor Mounts (used 2 weeks) - $350
Also, possibly,
Dension Ipod integration /w bluetooth $600
18" Carrera Classic 5 spokes with BRAND NEW PS2 tires $2000

All parts will be off the car this weekend and I can offer installation to anyone local if they're interested.

i do not think properly built racing 911 car or 993 car will save you a lot of money compared to your total losses from underselling all those mods plus this car, it is already depreciated 997 and it is as good to run now as 996 gt3 car. i think you are making a mistake taking it all apart, i would understand it if it gets done due to lack or lost interest, i did it myself several times with some cars, but if only point is to save money - you do not have to destroy this car if you want to build a spec boxster with $20K total budget or so.
997 platform is not going anywhere any time soon and selling all parts for 60% or less of original price is not a very sensible decision. but if you have to do what you do - well, someone will get a heck of a deal, JRZ shocks with matching springs for 28 hundred Canadian, wel... Still i think you are rushing up with this decision, i would let it down for a while and slept on it at least until the end of the season.

atr911 - what is is that you want to do? Are you getting into club racing or are you just going to do the DE thing? The car sounds awesome and the list of parts is impressive. This is a slippery slope but maybe just use what you have and get as much seat time as you can. Second option would be to return your car to stock - get lots of seat time with the sale of parts - as that car is mighty quick and handles very well in stock trim. I wish I had these types of problems with new and expensive cars ( Not jealous ) I drive an 86 911 stock with sticky tires ) BUT I did sell my 930 in 2002 - moved a 944 for a few summers of learning before getting back into a 911, so you have to ask yourself what it is you are trying to get to. I wanted to have car control and smoothness ( if that is a word ) None of this track stuff is cheap - your other post and many others here will agree. I'm luck with TMP 30 minutes from home I can spend 60 bucks and drive the evening 4 hours and thats a lot - usually 140-150 miles (yes miles).

Guys, you're killing me.
I may very well sell all the bits and convince myself that I can keep the car stock and keep driving it but I'm still young and really need to straighten my priorities out. I really need to think about investing in some more money earning assets before I blow my brains out on toys like I have.
I'm really fortunate that the car hasn't depreciated much at all and that most of the bits was bought at really phenomenal prices.
I like driving fast but I wouldn't mind finding something fun to learn on where I'm chasing everybody else. The thread on costs really woke me up and I've been spending like a drunk sailor come to port...
Besides, you guys will let me borrow your cars right?

The list of parts you will want/need to add to a 964 or 993 street car to make it trackable are just as expensive as the assortment you already bought for your 997. Unless you buy a turn-key track car, you will spend all this money again on a 964/993 to make it right, and end up with a less-capable car that is almost as heavy as your 997 and far less street-able. Any savings you put in the bank by selling the 997 will evaporate as soon as your "new" air-cooled motor needs a rebuild. And if you go pure-track car... well then you need a tow vehicle, trailer, etc, etc... so no savings there.
Break out a calculator and do the math. Make sure this is right decision for you is all I'm saying.

You can buy a 944 (NA), fully set it up for the track, including a trailer for under $10K. Engines are cheap, as are most other parts. Do you have something that can pull 5000 Lbs? It's tough to have a dedicated track car that you can drive to the track but it can be done for sure..

I'm not sure I'll used it as a hauler, but it serves a dual purpose if I choose to go that way. For now, I'd like to pocket the difference for a little bit.
