Thanks Renvagn....yes that was Hoyt. I would have rather he had not spun because I think I had a shot at passing him before the end. That was my first time racing with him and it was a lot of fun.

Here is a video from race 2. Started 2nd in H class and 18th overall. I made a outbraking mistake on lap 1 and went straight off in 1, reentered the track in last place (42 or so and last in H). Got back to 4th in class and 20th overall. Enjoy.

Saturday sprint. Front of the field was somewhat flipped with a couple of Cups qualified behind me and Dan Yonkers with our massive 250hp engines.

Race gets interesting when we catch the tail end of the field. We must have past 2 dozen cars battling for the lead in class. This transfer was not the best and it is slow to load, but it's Tuesday and that's all I got.

I'm thinking that the chicane adds a few seconds, as our lap times from the Club Race last August were faster, we ran straight through there then.
which do you guys prefer?

Frank, the chicane adds 3.5 secs on average. The track conditions were also really bad so compared to the normal track config a 1:32 was a low 28 easily.

my vote is for the chicane!

lots more fun and rewards the driver who has a nicely set up car and good car control. one downside is that it definitely beats up your tires and suspension a bit more.

i agree that it adds about 3.5 seconds

I don't know about 3.5 seconds but at least 2 seconds....

I'm liking the chicane more now than before but I really like flying through that turn 3 with no chicane. Every track has turns where you need big ***** -- the more big ball turns the better IMHO.

Turn 3 set up a passing opportunity after the hump if you get it right.
What about the chicane?

If you get a good run through the chicane you can pass on the right at the exit there also. You can also pass going into the chicane.

How long does it generally take them to get mylaps results posted?

Actually it was a 1:31.7, nice job.

not sure if I like the Chicane more or less, the old FAST turn was exciting but the chicane is more technical and I like going into the following turn a little slower in case of brake or brain malfunction. But I was a lot faster in the turn after the back straight before, maybe I'm still braking the same amount and slowing down too much.

Darren I took the time to section the track on my DAS and do a segment report with and without the chicane comparing apex T2 to apex T5 on several laps of each. It's more time than you think. Mike, that was precisely my problem braking similar for T4 as without the chicane. The turn is just about a lift with the chicane added.

Wonder if we could do at least 1 Sprint in Augusts with the chicane and others without or the reverse combination? The chicane is worth 3 seconds in an F car and does demand more technique than blasting thru turn 3. Exit speed out of the chicane is key to build momentum as you charge to turn 4. I reviewed the data for my car and although my entrance speed was good I was scrubbing off speed thru the chicane. By slowing the entrance speed a bit into the chicane and accelerating once I got to the left hander, I could pick up additional time right thru turn 4.

I vote we make chicane optional, you have to use it for half your laps and you get to decide which ones. It will be just like figure 8 bus racing only faster. Though we might want suspend the 13/13 rule for the day
