How sad. head injuries caused by the restraint system, not enough protection in the helmet? tire blew? what kind of tire? defective? couldnt take the speed and heat? If it was a street car, it sure makes me think twice about getting in someone elses car and going those speeds, without all the safety equipment. As racers, we wouldnt think twice about not going out on the track without a fire suit, our helmet and all the safety belt equip. But for some reason, because the event is "DE" suddenly we all feel safe just with a lap belt and an open face helmet and jeans. This sport is so dangerous. Very sad story.

What a sad story.
+1 Mark, sure makes you think twice about getting in the pass seat on street tires and going 120+ with only lap belts.

Here is a pic of the car. Doesn't look entirely stock, but hard to say what safety equipment it had on it.
