Anyone try the new Falken 615K?
Has anyone given these a try? Falken is marketing them as 1 second faster than the old version.
The only downside is the price. 315s run $385! yikes. But if they run and wear like RA1s, I might bite.

IIRC, they are not R-compounds. As such they'd better wear like RA1s! I read the same review -- good grip cold, but greasy when hot. Sounds like an autocross tire.

I haven't tried the new K compound Falken. My first two DE's were with the Falken 615 and I found them to go off quite a bit after 20 minutes. They got quite greasy. Greg is correct, they are really an awesome autocross tire but really don't double as a DE/autocross tire.
Switched over to the Dunlop Direzza and have been extremely happy with their performance and wear.

My friends run these on their Lemons racer.....they are happy with them.....we ran Direeza's and were VERY happy with those since we could get two complete races on 1 set!!! The tires I ran for testing and Sears Pointless still look GREAT.....and our car is about 3100lbs on track!!

I used them on my 04 GTO (255/40-17s) and they were good but after 20 mins they did get greasy and if over heated to many times they would just throw in the white towel.
I'm going to go with Toyo R888s for the 997. racetire.com has them for $312 for the 235/35-19 and $332 for the 295/30-19.

Grassroots test is the new 615K, same tread pattern as the 615 but a new compound. Even after a couple of AutoX runs on a 2000# Civic with water spraying in between the got greasy and feel off. Same car on the track got slower and slower each lap.
615K's are high performance street tires not R comps like NT01/R888/RA1

I would not recommend the 615s for dry track use, they just cannot handle the heat, I used them for 3 events and ditched them. The 615Ks have similar issues with heat according to Grassroots' test. They over heated during the 40-sec autox runs and had to cool them down with water. However, they do make very good rain tires

I have to say that based on my experience of R spec I am liking the NT01s very much. The only issue is lack of choice in sizing. I just wouldn't run a street tyre on the track even though R specs are street legal, they're really a race tyre. I have tried 888s, RE55s, Hoosier A&R. Short of the Hoos, the Nittos are the best.
