HA! Actually things are looking up. Car is suppose to be ready by Monday. And I moved my work schedule around to make it happen. So let's see.

not to highjack this great thread, but a buddy of mine had a sunroof taken out of his 993. IIRC, the body shop took the actual sunroof panel skin and welded it back in (because it had the right curve and contour). Grind, sand, smooth, paint and you cannot tell at all that there was ever a sunroof on it. Looks great and should not crack like epoxy might. In fact, he got into a bit of a wreck at a race, and even that shock never messed it up. Was pretty easy, so said the body shop guy....

btw gomez1: VERY nice car!

Thanks for the compliment! And yes that is another great option to save weight and spend less money. The only reason I did it in carbon is that I was disappointed to find that just the metal sunroof skin panel on my car was a full 10 LBS!!! And the CF piece was not even 1 LBS. So decided to spend a few hundred more for 9 LBS of weight savings. And yes I guess I am a little nutty about trying to grab weight saving from any where I can. The 997 are not light so it's a battle for every ounce.

Fair point. and that weight is really bad - as high in the car as you can get!

Oh, and I know the feeling about a car evolving over time. With the money I have put in my PCA GT5 class 914 over the past 15 years, I could own and afford to drive a new cup car.... oh well, some say the journey there is half the fun.

Doing the conversion over time also makes it a lot easier on my marriage

So, much different car than when I saw you at Thunderhill a couple of years ago?

when is the next race? running POC laguna this month. How about SCCA laguna in October? Nasa GTS? or Just NCRC?

Love to see the rig now!
