OK, one more time, with only 100 drivers registered for the Nord STern Region DE at Road America, those drivers are going to get a ridiculous amount of track time for their dollars next MOnday and Tuesday.

The weather looks a bit iffy for Monday but Tuesday looks like a glorious day.

Brats at the track and beer at Siebken's bar, what more could one want?!

Best event of the year! Even a rainy track day is better than sitting at work 40% chance of rain means a 60% chance of no rain

i agree with the good doctor. 60% chance of no rain is good for me. Wild horses couldn't tear me away from this event.

Is there still room?

A couple of friends and I are interested, is it Porsche only, or can we bring our other cars?

Contact David Anderson. He is the registrar. david@anderson.com

Or go to www.clubregistration.net

I think there is still room but the window is closing in fast.

Nord Stern region allows non porsches at its DE's. Heck, /20 valvson did a year's DE in his Mom's Audi 200/20 valve wagon (granted it was lowered, chipped, running Toyos Proxes on bigger wheels, etc. etc. etc.- affectionately referred to as the Swamp Thing after he went off Turn 8 at Brainerd)

NS does require previous track experience, as this is not a novice event. You will get a check ride first thing MOnday, if you aren't known to the registrar but don't worry, no full body cavity searches required.

a slightly higher charge for non PCA members. come to the track and sign up.

yesterday was the first day of the Nord Stern region DE at Road America. Those of you who stayed away because of rain forecast were proved wrong. A very light sprinkle during lunch was the only rain that hit the track all day. With only 125 drivers and four groups, there was a ton of track time. Expanded passing in the fastest group although it frankly wasn't needed as NS allows passing on all straights for all other groups, other than the 12-14 straight.

a very relaxed drivers meeting followed by no one that I heard of putting a wheel wrong. a very interesting variety of cars One attendee from NC picked up his T1 class Corvette in Pennsylvania, towed to Road America and have it on track for the first time with us. Everything from Don Brescia in his ripping snorting GT1R to a 356 (I got a ride in the 356.....what a hoot)

Today looks even better. Forecast high of 78 and clear blue skies. SHould be a great time.

By the way, our region has its 18th annual club race at Brainerd in two weeks. If you haven't driven the fastest track in North America, come on up. always a great time.

Curiously, why do you require windows to be fully up? What's wrong with fully down?

For a minute I thought there was a gaping hole in Greg's car but it was Lance standing in front of the car.

I'm going to try to work this around the NASA Autobahn race weekend next year since it is right around the same time and almost on the way up there anyway.

the reason NS requires windows up is the same reason most race sanctioning bodies require window nets, to keep arms, head's, etc. in cars if they roll over.

In the more than 40 years of DE's by Nord Stern region, my understanding is that there has only been one serious injury, a novice driver who didn't follow the rules, had his window down and when his car rolled, broke his arm when it hung out the window.

don't worry, if you are in wreck, a corner worker will gladly knock a window out with a fire bottle to get you out of the car.
