Thunderbolt race on Grand Am weekend
Anyone else doing this odd Thunderbolt race July 16-18? Looks like we won't get as much track time as normal, but it will be fun being at a venue with other races.

OY what a schedule... will be on the track each day earlier than I usually wake up. Then we have to stick around Sunday for the last session for race 2, may skip that one. It will be cool to see how close we can get to the Grand Am GT3 cup times though.

Agreed, we're going with the mindset of being there to hang out/have fun with pro buddies and be second class citizens for the actual on track racing. With that mindset, will be a fun weekend!

Is this the actual schedule?
The promotion for the event provided "....two practice sessions on Friday, Practice, Qualifying and Sprint race on Saturday and Practice and Sprint Race on Sunday after the Grand AM premiere event".

A buddy of mine signed me up. Mitch will see you there with my somewhat different car. Don't forget your running the CHICANE. It will be tough to drop below 1:30 if it's dry.

under the bridge at the end is T1 right, then T2 over the brow then there is the chicane before getting to what is usually T3 - the kink right. I am actually looking forwards to trying this layout

Ran the chicane for the SCCA pro weekend last month. I really liked it. VERY easy curbs that you can really get up on, I was using more curbs there than the video above. Lots of people seemed to lose it at the second transition where you start back to the right though. I was able to get tires in the dirt on the right going into it, totally inside of the curbs when I was forced inside on the curbs on the left and was really into the curbs for the second right. This was all in an SRF. Made turn 4 an easy turn to take flat. I've never run it without the chicane so no comparisons.
