I've also been on the other end where it was me that hit other car. This is racing, get over it.

And to everyone that says 'guys, let's remember what we are racing for', please go back to DE's, because you don't seem to grasp the concept of racing.

sorry guys, rules are rules even if you don't like them. in pca you must be even at turn in to occupy the space in the corner. we're not talking about "racing" we're talking about PCA racing. if it weren't pca rules then I would have held my ground and traded paint. If I had not moved out of the way we would have traded paint and 182 would have gone home on a 13 because he broke a rule and would have collected several cars.

Funny thing is Sean, after watching the video a few more times....You were just collerateral damage so to speak from a really bad move by the red car....This situation is not about the rules, it has to do with "threat of contact". What I mean by that is since a 13/13 rule is in place and contact must be avoided, people can make block moves that will most certianly end up in contact and say they have the right to the space. So, if the contact has to be avoided, then using threat of it is the offense..! If that was "real" racing the red car would have been punted off the track for such a stupid move and all would be straight..

I don't disagree with you Rick, I think the 13 can be used as a weapon and it often is and I also agree the red car would have been punted in a real racing situation which would have been better for me.

The 13 rule definitely creates a "threat of contact" tactic and I don't know if that was used here or not, but what I do know (I think), is that if there had been contact the stewards would have found 182 at fault. In NASA or SCCA, it might have just been ruled a racing incident, but you drive to the rules. I think the 13 rule needs a good healthy debate, because I agree with you that it has negative consequences.

I'm glad I posted the video because seeing Charlie's video was very helpful and it creates a good debate for guys who are not racers but thinking about it to see. I wasn't looking for support from my RL buddies, they were in the race or watching.

I won't comment on the bonzai move as I think it has probably been beat to death at this point.

Sean, some food for thought on the start of the race and how to protect this from happening to you in the future. Do not choose that inside of a line unless you are 100% sure you can pull the pass. If you pull the pass off you are still going to be at a disadvantage because you have compromised your run up the esses and down the back straight. You will more than likely get passed again by one of the guys behind you down the back straight. Your best more at the start would be to tuck in behind the leader and take second place coming out of T1. Get the run on him coming out of T1 into the uphill esses and work him down the back straight.

The sooner you forget the whole "owning the corner at turn in" part of the rulebook, the better off you'll be. Rookies, which I still very much am, get way too caught up in this section of the rulebook. It doesn't have to do with right or wrong, racing is a fluid situation and you must continually adapt to avoid contact, even in non 13-13 series. If everybody held their line no cars would finish the race.

If you follow the "owning the corner" rules word for word you won't get half the passes done that you could by using effective car placement and intimidation, even when you don't "own the corner". Chess at 100mph...

Is there somewhere that rules for 'on course driver conduct' are written down as all I see in the Club Racing rules are about flags and what you can do when you are near them.
