Teen survival-type droving event, Houston, June 19
Calling all parents of teenagers!
Lone Star Region is putting on a Performance Droving School at the Houston Police Dept Academy facility on Saturday, June 19. It's open to all, but we'd really like to see as many 16+ year old, licensed drivers participating as possible. They're the most likely to kill themselves doing something silly, and we'd like to get them into a structured class to make them better drivers.
I've helped w. instructing at the last 3 events, and it's a fun, safe class. Come join the fun, and please help put the word out for any & all teenagers you can rope into coming. No fancy Porsche required. Econobox, heavy sedan, it doesn't matter (street legal, of course).

My son and I did this program with LSR PCA in Houston a year or two ago and I strongly recommend it. And as long as Robert isn't riding in MGlobe's right hand seat, we should all be fine...

Just instructed Street Survival with the BMWCCA this past weekend, it was fun to see the young drivers improve.
Still nothing like sitting next to a new driver asking them how long they've had their license...."two weeks"

Another successful event last Saturday. It's great to have a program that complements the high speed DE events so well. Everybody had a good time & made steady progress.
One lady in my team said that her driving makes her husband crazy - she's in a Boxster S, but goes 65 down the freeway, with people passing her on both sides. Described herself as a granny drover. Initially, she had a little bit of the 'what am I doing here' vibe, but over the course of the day her vision came up, her inputs smoothed out, and she was having a great time & gaining a lot of confidence.

Der Professor has instructed at a bunch of these "Teen Street Survival" schools, most recently ~3 weeks ago. Always a satisfying experience, and the benefits flow in many directions.
Don't be a bunch of self-absorbed jerks...sign-up and instruct at these things as often as possible.
