Need suggestions for lodging near Hallett Raceway, for the NASA race next month. My wife and son will be with me. We don't need anything fancy, just clean, comfortable, and convenient to the track.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Went there last year and didn't see any hotels in the immediate area. We stayed in Stillwater one night, and were very impressed with that town. Its about 30 minutes from Hallett, home of Oklahoma State University, and has plenty of nice hotels & restaurants. I'd stay there if I went again.

The town right near Hallett is filled with crappy, flea ridden, nasty hotels. When I ran One Lap we hit Hallett one day and we stayed in town there due to convenience.
I HIGHLY recommend you stay elsewhere! It was, by far, the WORST place I've ever stayed. It's worth the drive to stay in a nicer hotel with actual restaurant choices, especially since you're bringing your family.

An RV was a pretty nice accommodation for Hallett, I must admit.
Nice, too, if your family wants to snooze to be refreshed for your next track session!

Also -- the track website posts some accommodations -- click on the visitor's guide.
You might want to give them a call.
Nice family operation...
My vote was with the RV. Nice avatar!

Stay in SandSprings on the west edge of Tulsa. You have restaurants and nice hotels and about a 25 min drive to the track on the toll road with a 75 mile per hour speed limit. Hands down best accommodations.

I agree with above suggestions: either Sand Springs (West Tulsa) or Stillwater have the best accomodations nearby - if you are coming up I-35 then Stillwater might make more sense since it is on the way. They are about equidistant from Hallett. I usually just pitch a tent and camp at the track myself though.

+1 for Sand Springs - lots of good options for hotels, restaurants, etc.
And a tip - IIRC, you'll get charged less at the toll both that's right at the exit for the track if you make sure to tell the operator that you're exiting right there when going to the track, and that you just got on the toll road when leaving the track. Usually they'll ask, but if they don't it helps to mention it.

Thanks all for the suggestions so far. I'll have to look closer into Stillwater and/or Sand Springs then. I don't mind driving a little if it means significantly better choices for food, etc. I just don't know anything about that part of OK (or any part of OK, really) and didn't know where to start.
I did see the visitors guide on Hallett's site... are those hotels among the fleabags docwyte refers to?
Of course now I'm thinking about buying a tent and associated equipment.

The holiday inn express is really nice, and is just outside the loop on the east side of sand springs. We just stayed there two weeks ago. A little to the west, IIRC is a quality or comfort inn, i can't remember, but it was also very nice.

Hampton Inn Sand Springs is very nice and offers a rate for Hallett racers.
