Our 3rd event was a 'double 7' at Heartland Park Topeka. First session on Saturday race we got a broken windshield. Second session on Saturday the transmission failed. The lap where we changed the transmission took 1 hour 43 minutes. An hour into the Sunday race we spun a rod bearing.

About a month after Heartland we were back in action. Swapped out the motor for another we picked up locally through craig's list. Test and tune after the motor swap consisted mostly of driving onto the trailer.

Raced at the 25.5 hour National Chumpionship at Newton Iowa. 45 cars got scored laps. Usually 30 or so on track at any given time. We raced in the rain, in the dark, on the oval, on the road course. Spent about an hour broken, half of that on a cut radiator hose, half on a broken exhaust.

The level of competition was much higher than it had been in April. Our best drivers ran with the fastest of them, my pace was mid pack. Lots of great racing action, we finished 12th.

There were 3 944's there and 1 924, all of them had more mechanical issues than we did.

The guy that won the race took the lead with something like 3 laps left and won by 10 seconds.

We ran 4 more events in 2012. I really enjoyed Eagle's Canyon. Turns 3-5 are really interesting after dark :O At St Louis the temperature was over 100F every day, really makes you appreciate a cool suit. Iowa speedway was a blast, hard to say if I had more fun from 4-5am in the rain or having a long protracted battle with Samluke close to the end of the race. We ended our season at the Chumpionship at Heartland Park. Every driver on the team got to drive at every event, lots of good wheel to wheel racing.

Our $2500 asking price is less than it would cost to build one on your own. I have the rear hatch and a hood without holes in it if someone wants to use the car as a start point for a 944 spec racer. The car has new front fenders that you can see if you go check out the chumpcar link.

944's make for a very fun chumpcar. I can speak from experience having driven in Ron's car and co owned the car 54, 944.

Always had a blast in both cars, fun and easy to drive, and very forgiving.

Notice how car 54 is in front of the FSR car. Just saying!

I can also attest that it costs a lot more than the asking price to build one, having built a couple. With the spares package as well, it would be a great deal for chumps or spec 944.

I got out an old spreadsheet of expenses from the original build. The total for parts with zero spares to build our car is more than our asking price.
