I have a chance to go in 2 weeks. Never been there. Anyone care to share their experience and opinions of the track? Worth the long drive from Florida?

I would disagree. Unless you have a cup car or all you care about is top speed, I think CMP is a great track. Very technical, 14 turns in 2.3 miles. No, it's not a Road Atlanta, but much better than Roebling.
They have day garages (no doors) which are nice to rent on hot days.
who might you be going with?

I was just there a couple of weeks ago, along with a couple of other RennListers. I tend to agree with Bob: it is a very challenging track, it is in excellent condition, the facilities are superbly maintained, and the staff is wonderful. As an added bonus, enjoy the really good purpose-built kart track on site!

Great track, lots of fun. I am more than willing to make the drive from Birmingham, AL.

hi.
it's a bit hard on brakes and tires, but is a fun technical track. it can be SUPER godawful hot during the summer (like, brutal heat stroke passing out hot). i'd say it's definitely worth a trip, though. good luck!

Yet another crappy Wilson-designed track.
But it's a lot better now than it used to be (last few turns are changed). Just don't drop a wheel, or you may destroy your car, drop-off and curbs are insane.

The staff is wonderful; I really enjoyed my trip there a few years ago. The track revisions are very nice, and I think it rewards a smooth, technical driver. It's not especially a high-speed track, though. What club are you going with?

CMP is an awesome layout. Very nice flow on it. They could do a better job of keeping it clean. I picked up a whole tire worth of pickup in one tire last time there. And I'm not exaggerating either, there was literally 2 inches of packed rubber all around the whole inside of my wheel.
Definitely worth the drive though. FAR FAR FAR better than Roebling. In a better location, with an improved surface, would be one of the best on the east coast.

CMP is a fun track. The managers are great people and easy to work with. Like others have said it is hard on brakes and tires. The go-kart track is super fun. We are headed there next Saturday for the DE to hang out with some friends and run the karts.
