Come on now, that can be said for any track in the southeast aside from the old airport site down there in Fla.....think they call it Sebring

I agree with the "for" votes here. Its a blast to drive, mildly technical, fast in spots (get the kink right or it'll hurt you) hard on brakes for sure and as Dave said, the cart track is a hoot (you can rent semi-race prepped race carts that are just to much fun). Its worth the drive as long as its not from Miami- may be a bit far, but if you are within about 6-8 hours, it'll be worth it.

As I understand it, all tracks are worth trying once. I have "tried" CMP several dozens of times, and although my drive is only about an hour, that must mean something to keep going back.

I would recommend the trip. After that it is up to you to decide how often you will return.

I love the place. Brian and Jochen do an excellent job managing things, and the new kart track is pretty awesome looking. And if you haven't been in a couple years, well, you'd say dropping a wheel is deadly, but they recently added a few things to make it a little less painful.

I go several times a year. Always will.

I agree and disagree...

it's new, so yeah worth doing.

it's pretty brutal on tires as the grip is REALLY LOW and most of the top layer of decent tarmac is gone, leaving the stony crap to shred you in the braking zones.

the curbing is diabolical in certain parts. do not drop wheels on turn 8 (is the the right hander?) or you could end up rolling.

the kink is sweet.

what hasn't been mentioned...there is nothing to eat AT ALL in the area besides chili's.

personally, it's my least favorite track.

Not true at all.
First off, for those that are a bit on the extra casual side, for us in the Carolinas Region, we go to Leo's every Friday for real Buffalo wings. It's a dive, but the food and beer are cheap, and it's fun with 30 of your best track buddies.

There's a mexican restauraunt up the road from Leo's.

If you want nicer, there's Sam Kendells in Camden. Nice place, very good food, decent wine & beer selection. Usually make it there on a race weekend

Never been to Old Armory Steakhouse, but I hear it's pretty good, also in Camden.

There's also an Italian restaurant in the plaza back behind the Mexican place, don't know the name

No, not a ton of places, but there are a few...

VR, next time you're at CMP, give me shout. I'm fairly close to CMP and wouldn't mind stopping in to say hi.

What were you there for?

Sam Kendall's, and the pizza place on the corner in downtown is good as well.

I was there as CDI & race steward for the Viper Days/NARRA event recently. Several RennListers instructed for me as well. And we karted like maniacs!

Track is located in the sticks. Closest town is Camden. It's our closest track and it's had some upgrades. Our experience is you get a decent amount of seat time because the events don't fill up. Carolinas Region is having a Club Race later this year and a few DEs prior. Great group and a lot of fun.

Planning to run the DE on the 21st, if anyone else plans to be there. I'm guessing that the NY plates will make it pretty easy to pick me out.

The staff and track are much improved with Brian Smith on board.

I'm a few minutes up the road. Let me know next time you make it to CMP. I'll come down to kart for sure.

Have you guys always been down in the Low Country? I was thinking your company was somewhere in the Midwest.

I'm heading your direction this weekend. Staying up in Cherry Grove, but probably driving down to Georgetown to check our my friend's new restaurant.
