Plavan:
The mounts that come in the Motorsports HD kit are the only ones I have so I used the slightly contoured base for my helmet and then screwed in the two different parts to make the "L" so the camera is level to the horizon.

Verbotn125:
While there is not a remote start stop I am using a 32 GB card so right before you leave your paddock have your crew hit the button and you will have plenty of storage room on the card. The battery is your only limit. I believe it can run for 2-4 hours on a full charge. I downloaded after each session and recharged in the trailer off of 110 power, which I believe they said would charge faster than the USB to your laptop.

I then purchased CyberLink PowerDirect 8 to edit the MPEG-4 file that is created. Realize that HD is a computer killer. For example, a 30 minute session filmed at 720p @ 60 fps (frames per second) generates a 3.7 GB file! That file then needs to be downloaded to your laptop and then into your editing software. Downloads took about 15 minutes with the USB cable provided by GoPro.

The only thing this camera is missing is, power via car (no battery to charge), remote start stop and data overlay. However at $299 its a hell of a lot cheaper than the $5,000.00 Motec wants to integrate video and data! So for now, I'll keep my Motec data on the laptop and watch HD vid's with my friends.

Sounds good. You can hardwire it to the car with the use of a 12v to 5v USB adapter (Look up Frankencharger here on rennlist for the Aiptek- they also do sell them on Ebay for cheap). That way you would not have to worry about batteries. You will need to drill a hole in the clear cover where the mini usb is to be able to plug it in. This info came from Go Pro.

My latest blog entry has some different uses of the GoPro and how we or some of my friends have used them. Check out my blog for some of the different things you can do with the GoPros.

Finally got to use my new ContourHD. Great little camera. Very easy to use and very robust. Thanks to Brinkley I mounted it to my helmet as near to eye level as I could, so enjoy the view.

I am going with a helmet mount this weekend at Sebring. With my Go Pro HD wide angle I believe this will be the best view.

Ugh I have worked on this for most of the morning to get straightened out. Please let me know by email if there are any more issues with it.

Classic!

Seth, it looks like you got it cleaned up. Hacked wordpress blogs seem way too common.

Awesome video.
