As far as LoJack/equivalents, a friend here had an open trailer "borrowed" a couple of months ago. (He ended up buying another, then the police call him to tell him they found the stolen one.)

His idea? Cheap GPS enabled pre-paid phone that uses Boost's 35 cent-a-day plan, with something like Instamapper software. He's figuring out how to hide the external battery (less of an issue with an enclosed) to ensure it's always charged/operating. So for $10/mo. you're in business.

I've thought of putting "Toxic Waste Clean-up" on my trailer, but haven't gotten around to it.

You mean I should not put "PORSCHE 959" or something like that on the side of the trailer??

Thanks for the post, the link and the Towel Babe. I mean what else is racing for after all. You got to look good for the fans - and some of those fans just look better. If she shows to steal my stuff maybe we can work something out.

I am going to look into the alarms, locks, and others just in case its some less than good lookin towel babes or hairy dudes. In Texas we can stop all this lootin' with some shootin' - but some other places are way way different about how we do it here!

Talking

After a few minutes of thinking about whether I would get some Texas State Trooper logos, or a tape of 4 barking German shepards I decided on the ultimate

2 VERY LARGE SNAKES

When the would be perp's open the door and find these bad boys it might be fun to have that video running.

Seriously it stinks big to have your car swiped. Other stuff too - even when it gets back to you. I leave the key in the golf cart at home and some neighborhood car bandit took the cart while checking cars. Caught and got police over. But had to go to court off and on for a year and half as the DA kept calling me in over and over before he eventually went away for 5 or 10 years.

Yeah, our trailer got stolen about a month ago. We had tons of tools, our canopies, a nitrogen bottle, etc etc in it but our cars where in the shop. It was insured with transport/paddock insurance, but the payout is not anywhere near the value. Anyways, it was a huge setback. The cop said it's been happening a lot with the economy. Trailers getting stolen and over the border by morning. Essentially they pulled up and chained up the trailer and dragged it away. No need to cut all the locks on the trailer when they can essentially just drag it away.

Thanks for the posts on security stuff, we will need something slick for the new trailer.

Interesting the cop and the insurance folks said the best insurance is a 'blocker vehicle'. AKA: leave it connected to a truck. They see a lower rate of stolen trailers when connected. Same with big-rigs apparently.

Around here, people break in to steal lawn equipment. They open the doors and if they dont see lawn equipment, they move on.

Even this is not fool proof. We have reports of thieves using a floor jack and taking it off one vehicle and placing it on the thieves vehicle. If you do leave it connected, lock it on. Might be a little pain, but might be a bigger pain if it is gone.
