Default Blown Six or CCW wheels for the track?

I have an opportunity to buy a nice set of Blown six wheels for my car. I am going wide body on my 70. I do DE events. The BS wheels will cost me the same as CCW wheels, but they are local. Any thoughts?

I'd go CCW. They're "proven." I've never seen BS wheels on a track car.

You're going to get a lot of votes for CCW around here. Many, many of us have been doing DE and racing with them for years with high success.

Thats what I assumed but I thought it would be worth asking anyway.

Thanks I just placed and order with John at CCW. Should I get 17 or 18? What tire sizes for a flared 1970 rs clone? I am not finding a lot of tires in 17 or 18. Street use is about 50%.

17s will allow you to buy more types of tires at better prices, and may be a little lighter weight. However, you'll probably pick up a little more sidewall flex. I had 17 and 18 on my 993, and could not tell the difference with MPSCs. I never tried R6s on the 17s, which is probably where the difference would have been felt.

I am getting the 17 X 9.5 and 11.5. Now the tires. I am thinking 255-40-17 and 315-30-17

With 9.5s up front you can fit a 275 tire but not sure if you will have clearance issues but will have a lot of push with the 255s up front and those meaty 315s out back IMO. I would try for a little wider tire up front.

On my 993 right now I run a 245 up front on an 8.5 inch wheel and 275 out back and the push is not there. Car is very neutral.

My new setup will be 10s and 11s with the RSR stuff and Ill be running slicks but size will be simlar to 275s and 315s.

Good luck.

Jeff
