Default On 944, better to get camber from camber plate, or lower eccentric bolts?

I have camber plates, but was wondering if it is better to get the bulk of the camber from the top or bottom of the strut? Just wondering if any bright RL minds had any thoughts on the geometry (late offset) for either option, before I take the car in for it's preseason alingnment. Obviously either/both will work, but how does one change versus the other affect the geometry?

You want to use the upper adjustment to set the angle between the strut and the lower control arm, and lower adjustment to get your desired camber once the angle is set.

Kurt,

What's the right angle to shoot for (how do I know).

BTW, you need to update your sig. - your racecar is now running, I believe?

Are you going to be able to make some events this year (in you car?)

The angle between the strut and control arm will determine your roll center, so set them accordingly. It will depend on how much you've lowered your car.

The car isn't running just yet, I haven't installed your fuel tank yet, I want to get the holes in the rear deck filled in first, which will require hauling the car and a parts car to a shop - soon. Thanks again for the tank

I don't think my car will be a good fit for 944 spec, too much done to it to undo. Speaking of which, I need to get the Accusump back from Nick. Hopefully I'll get a chance to run a few SCCA ITS races, maybe some Midwestern Council.

Kurt is right in that the angle of the strut affects roll center, but the inclination of the spindle vs the strut affects scrub radius (which impacts steering effort and bump steer). It comes down to which will have more negative effect based upon you current car setup.

Interesting. which way roll center is affected - strut more vertical, higher roll center?

Interesting - will have to research this some more.

Kurt, I understand what you are saying - your car was racing for a long time under other rules. If you can make the cage NASA compliant, you could run under GTS-1 rules just to get out there with us.

Any interest in co-driving in an enduro in a Spec car?

Yes that's it. This picture will explain it.
