I - literally - fell asleep watching that race. Let's hope the rest of the season improves, and that this was just a one-off boring race.

I think that they really do not have an understanding of the possible race strategies yet. At the end of the race, the front-runners were still around 2:00~2:01, when they qualified a full 5 seconds faster. I cannot believe that with 15 laps left, the super softs would not have been good for 1:56s or at worst 1:57s. That would have made up any pit stop difference in 6~7 laps. Last year they were knocking around qualifying times by the end of the race & this year should be no different. Maybe it was a case of waiting for someone else to make the first move? Unless you are the leader, that is usually not a winning strategy.

Didn't almost the whole field do a one stopper? And didn't they stop at around 20 laps or so meaning the second set of tires went for around 30 laps?

By the end of the race, the tires are so old qualifying times are a distant memory. When there is 15 laps left, everyone is still thinking about the 15 laps they already put on the tires and saving them till the end.

This is a lose lose for good racing, because the tires (and track surface) change on a weekly basis so no one knows what to expect for the race so they will conserve.

Qualifying times in the 1:53's and a fastest race lap of 1:58 in the same conditions is retarded, but it's all the rules will allow.

Boys, let's all get together and do a rain dance for the Australian GP in 2 weeks time. That might be the way to get more excitment into this format.

Is it the same late start to keep the European 'fans' interested?
Might backfire if there's a rain delay like in Shanghai and it gets too dark to mount Cibie driving lights on the front wings.

So did the teams learn much about fuel economy so they won't have to conserve as much fuel or light fuel the cars.

The rear wing looks aweful, and I'm really dissapointed at the way the cars' snoots have evolved. I'm sure it's optimum for aero. But damn it's ugly. I don't care about the outright speed, but passing would be good.

Only passing that seems to occur in F1 is passing wind . . .

The "It is interesting because it is different" factor will disappear quickly. These parades need strategy devices to make them interesting. Losing the fuel element is very very shortsided. Then again, so were the pressurized fuel rigs.

Just a whole big pile of stupid. Sadly, I'll watch anyway.

Oddly, the Indycar race was really interesting. A bit for the wrong reasons, but they had enormously long straights into slow corners, and guess what happened - passing.

I fell asleep around lap 25- how did it end- a thrilling 3 way battle between Vettel, Alonso and Massa with a record number of passes in the final lap? Or no.

Adrian Sutil's father quoted in Paddocktalk:

Germany's Bild quoted Adrian Sutil's father Jorge as saying: "Next time I will take with me something to read."

Think I'll go see if I can watch some Danica . . .

1988 Italian GP:

Pole--Senna @ 1:25.974
Fastest Lap--Alboreto @ 1:29.070 on Lap 43 of 51

(And this was the SINGLE race that season that McLaren didn't win, and only because Senna hosed it in lapping traffic. Oh,the excitement!!!!!)
