You can also consider Rennline products:

I can go through my front wheels and have the tie down rings on the rear shock mounts something like the rennlines.

E track with bonnets if I couldn't go through the wheels

As ltc has mentioned, i use the automtrics tied downs for my 964. I use the front and rear - they are solid and once the car is tied down it isn't going anywhere. The front tie downs are a littl difficult to reach, but once you fi.gure it out it isn't too bad.

Since you have that nice tire rack, why not get a set of scruffy wheels (rains?) and transport on them - like a 5 spoke that will be easy to strap through?

Also I noticed that you didn't cross the straps. On our 7541 the fronts have to go straight ahead so we typically cross the rears (CaymanS). I've seen posts that favor never crossing, crossing one end or the other, or crossing both ends. Is there a "right" answer to this one?

Is it me or is that car really far forward on the trailer?

It looks that way because of the trailer axle location. Would be better for a 911's weight distribution for sure.. I would move it back about 18" or so, using a tongue scale to get a good tongue weight.

Not that you haven't heard it enough, but I say no to the way you are attached to that tow hook & didn't your tow vehicle point to the sky with the car pulled up that far??

It looks good but it puts a lot of downward force on the hook. The other predicament is that I have a few different cars that I'll be towing on the trailer. A few of them have solid wheels that will not allow me to use the trough the wheel straps.
dont do that with the front tow hook!
go through the wheels let suspension move .. ! cup cars are tied through the wheels i think your 944 will be safe that way also

You appear to have a "911" trailex. I would look into having the axles shifted forward. On my trailex the car is about as forward as yours, but the center of my car is over the center of the axles.

Please don't use the front tow hook like that. I have no trouble crossing the straps under the front of my lowered car and not damaging the bat wing.

Hi Clem,

I have thought about that ...is it safe for the control arms? Which part of the control arms, exactly (I have an SC). No tweakage??

I'd personally prefer your suggestion over the eyelets I have which are mounted to the front-torsionbar bolt ...which is so far forward on the car it just barely allows my straps to cinch down.

Tie Down Hooks. These brackets bolt to the lower shock mounts and can be used on most Porsche track cars. Tie downs are powderpainted red for durability and make strapping the car to the trailer much quicker and easier, you just snap-and-go.
All Prices are Per Set

944, 951, 968 (1983-1994) $29.95
This is what I tie down to at the rear, and cross diagonally. I assume that's kosher. I have the same for the front, but with it mounted so far forward, I wish I could tie down straight forward, but I can only tie the straps diagonally, which tweaks the eyelet mounts sideways. That can't be good, no? Or am I fine?

The rennline type (I think you can get them from more than one vendor) front bolt on eyes that point foward and stick down are prone to getting caught on ground based things like tire stops. I also watched a a simple off at the track result in a $$$ track day ending repair after the added hook levered out one of the front A arm mounting point. I have seen this type of bracket shred the front mount more than once.

Hmmm, now there's another point worth seriously weighing! Makes sense considering I can scrape one just on a driveway. So who uses straps to the front control arms? Where on the control arms exactly should I loop around (or is it obvious once I poke my head underneath?). Thanks!!

If you cross front straps and should clear airdam and better secure the car against side to side movement. You can get fleece strap covers from Mac's to fit your wheel straps if you want more protection for your wheels.
