Default A New Low for SPEEDtv :(

These guys have gotten sooooo far from racing that it has come to this:

http://www.speedtv.com/programs/fast-track-to-fame/

Frigin America's Got Talent knock off with a NASCAR flare.

Absurd. Embarrassing.

I'm seeing the commercials during a trivia show featuring CarrotTop.

On SPEEDtv.

I just don't get it anymore.

Do you think anyone in the boardroom raises their hand when these shows are being pitched and says. "We need to change the name of the network if we are going to show stuff like this . . . "

I hate Speed more and more every day. As fragmented as cable television is today, you think someone could put together a channel that showcases the more refined forms of motorsport and car related content.

If there was anywhere else I could watch F1, I'd boycott Speed completely.

TV= Ratings ..

Follow the ratings, obvious the US is not a big racing country and outside of NASCAR, nothing really... Make a push for FOX sport as shown in SO. America and you will never need Seedy TV again .

Well they're actually giving a decent amount of air time to the GT cars right now....

What this says is that people really just DONT WATCH RACING!!!!!

If they are making up garbage shows instead of adding racing, then that means their ratings show that people with violins dancing around on stage will draw more people to speed channel than racing will.

I don't disagree.

I only ask that they change the name of the network if they are going to show infomercials and cooking shows.

Unfortunately, all channels are a business and I think we'd all like more content that we care about, but I guess that doesn't sell. Anyone know how well financially SpeedVision did when they ran rally crosses and more racing stuff? I wonder how they did compared to now? I can imagine how much better it would be if they just dug up old races from the 70s, 80s and 90s and just played that as a classics.

SpeedTV classic...like ESPN.

All the channels have done this, MTV, VH1, etc. They move from what got people watching to other junk that keeps people there (I guess?) The golf channel shows infomercials to pay the bills. I guess the only thing that keeps this from happening on ESPN is that they have like 50 sports....if you can call poker playing and pool sports? I'm sure the stick and ball sports fans dislike that just as much.

The real crime is hearing the announcers shill this show as if they like it. Though, it could be a LOT more fun, if they just picked up their talent from the drunks in the trailers parked at the race.

At least when this junk is on, I can go do something else.

Ahh... I too recall the days of Speedvision.

Anything that went fast was on there. Cars, boats, airplanes. It was good then.

I guess at least now I don't spend much time watching it.

F1 and some of the few other racing (real racing) events is about it for me.

I cancelled my subscription to SPEED a few months ago and simply don't regret it. Just watched the Rolex race on the internet. Tomorrow I'll watch V8 supercars!

Speed can kiss my A$$.

What do you expect

This is the kind of crap people like to watch these days.. That's why pretty much every channel has the same BS playing over and over.

I don't have Speed's market analysis but it seems to me that I can watch talent/cooking shows 24 hours a day. How can Speed get more viewers with shows like these when the airwaves are flooded with the same?

I understand the infomercials and that's just fine but not when they or the other programming preempts a race broadcast.

As an example, they have run BTCC and GTS at least 2 or 3 times this winter. I've seen the Nascar lead up to the 500 about 30 times. They rerun this stuff over and over and over as if there isn't anything else to put on the air. They run the entire LeMans 24.

But they don't rerun the Conti Tire race that they bumped for a truck race and the cut away from the Rolex 24 in favor of some real trash tv. I don't expect that 1,000,000 people are going to watch the overnight of a 24 but more people are going to watch that at 11pm than an infomercial for a food processor. It's one day. One day they could have devoted to their core business. One day.

Heck, they even cut their own race series to a 60 minute highlight show. That series pulled out of Speed and went to VS. Sucks because I don't get VS.

Why can't they air races as they happen. What's their point in airing the current Conti Race a week after it's over and everyone knows the results? What aired instead of a real motor race?

Throwing crap on the air smacks of desperation like maybe Speed, like many businesses, is losing money?

Are they publicly traded? Can we little by little buy up all the stock, fire the entire programming department and start over?
