Basic training for 911/997
I just rec'd my 997 S and would like to find a short course - maybe half day - in SoCal area. I am self-taught on driving manual trans - I know there is more to learn, especially with this weapon in my hands. Thanks in advance.

Sign up for a PCA DE. It takes more than an afternoon plus driving on a track is more fun than the street. It is great that you are asking and realize the car is faster than you.

It's very last minute, but the Alfa Club runs a great school and it happens to be this weekend. You could call Steve Hamilton to see if you can still attend. They do allow you to attend just the Saturday or you could do both days. Here is a link to their page:

The Porsche Owners Club runs an excellent development program in SoCal - recently renamed the Performance Driving Series (formerly STS).
More informaiton can be found at: www.porscheclub.com or by sending a PM to Rennlist member Craig T.

The Porsche Owners Club had a school about a month ago; the next STS/Performance Driving Series POC event is the middle of March. They will have a school again in the fall. As a new driver, you would be able to receive instruction at the March event.
