Default Help: Brake Bleeding question

I just installed new Pagid Oranges on my 06 CaymanS and got done bleeding the brakes for the second time. I use a pressure bleeder to flush the fluid, then finish by pumping. The pedal feels like a rock....until I turn on the ignition...then it is soft enough it goes just about to the floor. If I pump with the ignition on, it gets progressively harder, but as soon as I keep my foot on it, it slowly makes it way to the floor. There are NO leaks, and I have re-bled twice....anyone have any ideas?

I can't take it out and drive it because we have about 5 ft of snow on the ground! Has anyone noticed this before, and does it cure itself after bedding the pads? TIA

Sounds like a MC issue

I would ask (if you haven't) over on the Cayman/Boxster forum also. I would also try it without "finish by pumping".

Lots of discussion on this topic here and and on: http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxster-competition/

I had the same issue. Could be MC, but more likely your ABS. I would get it to a shop to check out. If you are in the Northeast, Spencer *** has dealt with this issue a lot: www.speedsporttuning.net.

IF you did not activate the ABS you will have air trapped in the system that will bleed back out. You still can "Get the Air out" without "Activation of ABS"... but it will take longer.. with several attempts. THE MC IS NOT BAD! Also, you should never pump the peddle on your newer P-car! It will trap air in the system as it sucks back. That approach was okay on the older cars... but not today.

If Cayman's/Boxster are anything like the 993 ABS system, you have to cycle the abs pump occasionally by turning the ignition on, to help circulate the fluid through the pump on its way out of the bleeders.
