wow what an a$$. I've heard great things about HOD and I'm planning to sign up for one of their events either at Laguna or T-hill. I'm a newbie myself, I just hope my instructor is not this 'Dan'...

The driver did not say he was a newbie. I thought he said it was his first time wearing a full face helmet.

Other than a rapid pit exit I didn't see a lot blatantly wrong with the driving...

He posted another video in youtube from the last session that day and he says this was his first track day. Not bad I think, but hey I've done only one track day in my life

I was at T'Hill instructing that day and did not hear anything about this incident; I also know the woman who walks up to the car at the end. She said nothing about this to anyone AFAIK.

I'm glad there are no names associated with this because there must be more to this than there appears.
i would hope so. i know dave ray well and this is WAY BELOW standard for HOD. and btw the student was not that "unsmooth" or missing the line!

The driver said it was his first trackday. The instructor was the one who made the helmet comment.

Agree with you, he was definitely a douchebag.

Shouldn't the instructor have told student to stay right thru the first turn before student crossed into the high speed lane? Shouldn't that have been covered in classroom?

[QUOTE=Veloce Raptor;7281887]No, I don't know him. But he identified himself as "Dan" at the very beginning of the video, and he was being a douche.

Yup, missed that.

That is very disappointing. I just watched, and my wife (also an instructor) heard from the other room. She was disappointed as well.

I hope that it all gets sorted out between HOD and the instructor.

Couldn't really tell too much about the student, but there didn't seem to be anything that warranted the instructor's comments.

Shame.

granted I'm no expert at Thunderhill, but I have been around there a few times...with Ken no less...& I think this guy is doing an excellent job for his 1st DE day EVER....sure there are some less than perfect spots...but for a guy that has at most a grand total of 4 run sessions in his life he is doing VERY good... I do not know the instructor...but I sure don't want him riding with me NOW!!!

I'm pretty sure by about T3 I would have been dropping off my 'instructor' at a corner worker station.
