A co-workers parents live there (they supply missions), and they just returned there this weekend from the holidays. Talk about timing. He had been trying to reach them, all phone lines were down, they were able to get word out today, you'll never guess how...

Not to take away from Rennwish (a donation is on it's way), but I thought I would also share this article from one of my local news outlets...it's a good reminder to exercise good judgment and avoid the donation scams that will doubtless crop up as the coming days unfold.

We do believe in prayer as well as action. My wife and I will also be donating to the Red Cross as well as Rennwish. Our prayers are with the Rennwish folk and their families.

I had no idea that there was as much as 45k Americans on the island. I think that's the number the said on the news. I do know a few Haitians and hope there families are ok.
