Gary, if D is shrinking, just put that euro SC engine in your D car and race with all the cars in E !

The Werkstatt Cville Spec Box ran GTS-2 in NASA. Can use Hoosiers.

What class in GTS would a SPBX run (at the SPBX weight). What is the min wt and approximate hp & torque?
Haven't figured it out but quick guess is GTS 2, and it may or may not be competitive. Could run R6's in that but defeats the whole purpose.

If the HP weight ratio is optimal they would be very competitive.

GTS-2 is correct. Min weight for SPBOX is 2650 (w/drover). One SPBOX driver ran NASA last year and had to add 50# of ballast (dyno was 192 hp). I believe that he ran the R888 and was still a second or so faster than the rest of the GTS-2 class in Texas.

Well, they can be as low as #2650 (w/driver), no idea of HP/TQ though. Anyone get a dyno on one?

Edit: I need to type faster.. ^^^^^^^^^

Gary, if the weight is 2650 then the RWHP max can be 182.

They dyno all over the map. The few that I've heard about in Texas are low 190s. Out west they have seen 168 to 180-ish.

2650 is bottom number Scott, I would figure 2700# would be where most run to be safe at the scales.. At 2700 they can run 186HP/180TQ and just make it in at 14.52.. that's what I will tell my dyno operator I want.

Boxster Spec sounds like fun. Still one buget level up/out of reach from a 944 Spec car for me. I'd be interested to see how much faster they are on the same track.
Doc-

My car is set up to run in the 944 SuperCup series and I had the opportunity to run with a couple of well driven Spec Boxsters on the relatively tight VIR North Course last year and it was a hoot!

Eventually, I was able to pass them but it wasn't too easy.

On the full course I could stretch my legs more and it wasn't as hard.

I would think that the Spec Boxsters would probably be faster than the regular 944 specs due to the higher HP and better better geometry.

Here are some #'s from the start of my SPBox build as a totally stock baseline, this was taken a week after I purchased it. It should be noted that the dyno #s should really only be compared to this car on this dyno, they are not a NASA dyno station.

Out West the SB's are 3 seconds faster per lap at Willow Springs. In the NASA Nationals, the lone SB running in GTS2 was 6 seconds faster than the top 944 spec, and 3.5 seconds faster than the top 944 in GTS1.....

Not affiliated, and I don't know about the damage, but if anyone is potentially looking for a track candidate.
