Default NJMP support race

NJMP Porsche Invitational

A group of South Jersey Racers have been approached by New Jersey Motorsports Park to be apart of the Grand Am Rolex July 16-18 Pro-weekend. We will call the Race Group the NJMP Porsche Invitational.

We would have our own Race Group as part of the show. We would provide our own sanctioning and Steward. The rest of the three days would be handled by the NJMP. We would get 2 Practice on Friday, Qualifying session on Saturday morning, with 1st Race Saturday afternoon and 2nd Race Sunday morning. Combined highest finish would be winner in each Class. Races would be in the 30-minute range.

Car and Driver would need to meet a certain standard, for example: PCA or equivalent license, legal car and safety standards. We would provide NJMP with classes configuration within the one Race Group. Each car would be afforded one driver pass and 4 crew passes. Additional passes could be purchased from track.

Applications would be e mailed to interested parties who would complete and returned to NJMP with payment $400 as entrance fee. The entrance fee checks made to NJMP. Selection of cars would be made on a first come, first served basis and Race Class grouping designed to provide a competitive show. We will limit the NJMP Porsche Invitational to around 45 cars total.

We are trying to gauge interest level. What does everyone think?

That would be very cool Pete, hard part may be finding 45 cars that runs fairly close in times.. i.e. if Cup Cars are running you may not want C,D,E,F cars out there...

What a great idea. Reminds me when PCA did the support race for Grand Am at VIR. Not too much track time, but being part of a pro race was very memorable. Would love the chance to run!

That is sort of the idea. NJMP needs support races. Last year one of the support races only had 9 entrants. We would run in the morning in a large group (hopefully) with lots of passing for the fans. When we are done we can watch the big boys. The entrance fee includes up to 4 "workers", so if you were going anyway with a bunch of buddies it really doesn't cost much to run. Our track time would be in the AM so as not to conflict with the TV schedule.

Using PCA class designations? Or hp/wt ratios like NASA GTS?

This is a neat opportunity. I might be interested if classes are based on hp/wt ratios.

Probably some sort of hp to weight so that there aren't too many classes.

I would be interested, can bring the F car or a GT3 Cup car depending on what you decide for speeds.

It would be fantastic if it were all older 911's in the D-E-F-G Stock/Prepared classes. If that was the case I would most likely sign up also.

I think Gary is right , have you considered the speed difference if a bunch of GTC cars sign up

I'd be very interested. If we run power to weight does that mean we can forego some PCA stock rules like passenger seats and such?
