[QUOTE=Veloce Raptor;7197411]It wasn't in a race, sorry. However, later that weekend, in the races & qual sessions, my client did 1:54's! Which ARE on Mylaps.
Excellent times.
My guess, times for this year's 24 will be around 1:50-51 for qualifying and race times for the Pros like Lally, Long, etc will be easy 1:53-54's. About 1 sec faster than last year.

[QUOTE=Veloce Raptor;7197545]Andy told me at PRI that he wanted to break 1:50 in the race.
That will be flying. If anybody can do it, it will be Andy
But remember sometimes it's best not to show all your cards

At last year's Daytona 24, we qualified 3rd on the GT grid at 1:49.6. Andy did a 1:49.5, and the Mazda got pole with a 1:49.4. I have to think at least 1:48 this year, assuming good conditions.
As far as race laps, fastest last year was a low 1:50, I think.

I was going from memory, and I must have been remembering 08.

Viper Comp Coupe. I was coaching a guy with one who had never been to Daytona before, and he was having real problems in T1 and the Bus Stop, so I did 6 "baseline" laps to give him a decent data trace. What a PITA car, though. It's a HUGE bitch, yet has a teeny tiny door & interiior (and I am 6' 4"). Very hard to determine where the corners of the car were from the drover's seat. But once at speed, it sure gits up & goes, as long as you don't aggressively try to trailbrake it! Oh, did I mention it was HOT HOT HOT! ****, it was hot inside.

HAHA, I almost bought a Viper but the interior room per inch of wheelbase was way too small. That gigantic center console like a hummer is the problem. The Viper is an engine with seats and wheels attached.
I still love them though.

Yeah, I cannot imagine you fitting in one. I am 6-4, 205 (skinny). I can't imagine a tall, more solidly built guy being comfortable in there.
This was only my 2nd time ever driving a Viper, at any speed. My first time was at Gingerman last June, but not in a Comp Coupe. It was a first gen GTS (coupe). I enjoyed the car at Gingerman speeds. It was relatively easy to drive, and handled surprisingly well for such a front-heavy sled, and even could take some slight trailbraking (usually a no-no for Vipers). It had a small bolt-in cage, so I had a bit more room in it.
However, the Comp Coupe is a completely different animal, and driving it at Daytona was at the same time very easy (the long sections on the banking + slight aero downforce + 600hp = floor it and go) and very difficult (very nervous handling at the limit, especially in hard braking zones (T1 and the bus stop); abrupt transitions from understeer to oversteer in places like T3 where the camber changes a lot at exit). After I drove my 6 laps, I recommended a few set-up changes to the car, including sway bars & ride heights, as well as some slight line changes for my client. While I didn't drive it again, my cliient's performance suggests that both sets of changes were successful!
I will say that earplugs are mandatory in these cars, as are cool shirts.

I can't drive worth a hoot and I'm just about broke, but I can offer you photo support that looks quite a bit better than what you have on your website.
PM me if interested.

So, no one else brought up the lap times from the test. With ambient temp. below/around freezing Porsches were in the 1.49's, that includes 09 spec. (wide body) cars and 07/08 spec.(narrow body) cars (with real pro/factory drivers), just imagine the times before the race if the weather plays along.
I predict pole with 1.48.3ish (probably Mazda/Leh Keen)
