Crud, my GT4 car still has its RS carpet set in it. Not sure Im going to mess with it this year, too much going on with the rest of the car. Ive done this before on my old RSA and not sure Im ready to tackle this yet. I will say however, my 993 has/ had a lot less glue, foam than my 964 did. I think my 993 will be easier.

Just stripped the interior out of a friend's GT3. Looks gorgeous. You guys know that they don't glue in anything in the new cars!

Yes and Im not bitter about it at all I have found that the 993 in some ways is even worse than the 964 as they even glued in all the glass. I guess 95 was the year of the glue

If I had the time and tallent I would have had this stupid chassis dipped clean and re paint the whole darn thing.

Oh well, in a month Ill forget all about this...... weekend.

I was just about to post as to how wrong that is.

I've been removing my 993 carpet for the past week w/o a respirator. Bad decision. After getting sick as a dog I bought a 3M 6000 series repirator w/ OV cartridge, ~$30, it was the best $ I've spent in a long time.

'Goof Off' works pretty good on the glue as does '3M Adhesive Remover'

Laquer thinner is the best stuff to use on glue and it's cheap. About $15 a gallon. Also makes an excellent parts cleaner.

I did this job last week it only took about an hour I used are 40000 psi waterblast machine
it would be even faster but once you pull the trigger you cant see anything We have done many bare tubs but this was the first time I tryed it with a complete car it worked great but you have to be carfull not to hit any wires because it cuts them. The biggest pain in the *** is the sun roof
I removed everything and am now welding in the old pannel even stich welding it it warped
like mad. Palmer

I just stripped a GT3 this weekend too. Part of the GT3 package is that there is no insulation. That's why they are so loud in the cabin.

Posted this in another thread. Window net, right net and seat installed back in the car. No, every ounce of glue is not out but held paint well. Anywhere I will touch the glue is out and the front floor is all covered with aluminum and grip tape. Turned out looking great. Still needs a little paint here and there on some of my new cage additions, and need to re-install all my cage padding before this weekend. Almost ready to rumble...
As for the VOCs, yes a respirator is the only way to go. I used Goof off stuff and lacquer thinner and the Goof off worked better. Another product that works great and I don't know what it is exactly but its used as a prep wipe before you paint. They are all solvents and so be carefull with them and a 30 dollar respirator is always a good investment.
Ill be checking out everybodies interiors this weekend. Best thing thats happend to PCA racing is to get rid of the fire sponge and flamable products inside the car.
