SA2010 Effective Date
Certification testing to SA2010 is underway. SA2010 certification labels will be available to qualified manufacturers starting April 1, 2010. Helmets certified to SA2010 must not be available for sale until October 1, 2010.
SA2010 FHR Addendum (SAH2010)
A draft addendum to SA2010 concerning frontal head restraint (FHR) systems will go out to interested parties for review shortly. The draft addendum follows procedures similar to those expected in FIA 8858-2010. But the SAH2010 Addendum will not be finalized until the FIA revision has been issued and any differences have been resolved.
Once the addendum is ready, all helmets submitted for SA2010 and equipped with appropriate tether mount hardware will be subjected to loading tests similar to those of the next revision of FIA 8858. Qualifying helmets will be eligible for a “SAH2010" certification assuring that the tether provisions have also been met. Helmets previously certified to SA2010 may be resubmitted for testing to the addendum.

I spoke to Stand21 a few weeks ago. I have a 2000 needing replacement.. They have 2010 helmets but must wait to release October I was told. I thought the preinstalled Hans anchors were extra.

BELL is supposed to have their new line available October 1. We have the new model information but waiting for new helmet pictures to update our website. Gforce is saying SA2010's possibly available November. Zamp, mid October. OMP will not have SA2010s until sometime in 2011. Stilo, sometime in October/November.

You SA2005 helmets will be serviceable through 2015. Helmets are always good for 10 years, with new certifications every 5 years.
I have seen pictures of the new 2010 Bell's. Very nice with a lot of input from Bell Europe.
Some info can he found here:

I put off buying a new helmet until just a few months ago trying to wait for the 2010 and just couldn't do it any longer. Got a nice bell SA2005 for a good price, but not happy that I will now have to re-buy in 5 more years.

I save my old helmets for nostalgic reasons.... I have 2 Snell 2005 helmets currently but I'm looking to replace at least one of them as they have been worn too many times (read, stink
).

The new Snell SAH 2010 and FIA 8858-2010 standards are out. These are the standards that cover helmets with HANS anchors for the first time. Not many helmets qualify, but if you are looking for a Xmas present, consider these first!

Does anyone here know how the HANS anchors mount to the new helmets? The Bell ads all say "M6" hardware for h&n restraint mounting. Can I just pull my Hans anchors off my old helmet or do I need some new anchor system for the HANS to attach to the Helmet? I'm about to buy a new Bell as my old SA2000 Bell dominator is expired (and looks and smells pretty rank.) Thanks
Patrick
