Nascar Nationwide Series to Road America in 2010
Story Link
The Nationwide series will be at Road America June 19, 2010. The SCCA June sprints will move back one weekend to free the date. This replaces the Milwaukee Mile race.
This is the same weekend Sprint Cup will be in Sonoma. They're hoping for Grand-Am in 2011, so I wonder what the support races will be this year.
Over / Under on cars in the sand at Canada Corner? I'll say 6 during the race, 35 over the weekend.

SCCA Trans-Am, Playboy MX-5 cup, and Mid-American stock cars will be the support classes. Nationwide will be on Saturday, four-day event. Awesome for our local economy, RA and exposure to Roadracing. I can't wait, don't mind waiting one more week to race in Spec Miata at the June Sprints...

I'm waiting for the press release announcing that they will run a special "all left turn" configuration of RA for this event.
It would still be fun to watch NA$CAR hit the 'Boot' at Watkins Glen, rather than their own configuration.

I think they will probably cut through at the end of the straight at turn 5 and come back onto the road course right before the last corner before the front straight.

So what was the configuration prior to about 1970 that F1 ran?

Third version of Watkins Glen. Found here http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks...tkinsGlen.html
Looks like in '73 they added the "boot", took out the chicane at south bend, and moved the pits and changed some of the corners.
This is kind of taking the thread off topic.

If we want to talk about track bastardization, I'll submit Laguna Seca pre- and post- 1980whatever to entice MotoGP/F1/etc.

Now do we want to talk about Sears Point?

Barrelling down the hill towards the Toe would prolly trash the tiny brakes those cars have inside of 10 laps.....I used to watch the SCCA races there and it wasn't long before the pony cars' brakes were belching smoke....

Kurt R, neat map.
I notice that there are several named roads that cross the course, Wedgewood for one; modern maps show similar (same?) roads. I have only been to the Glen once, are those roads accessible on non-race days?
