Default tow vehicle shocks

I am replacing the shocks on my 2002 Suburban 4WD Z71 package with 175,000 miles. I believe the original are Bilstein, anyway I liked the ride so will replace with GM parts. I tow a 968 on an open trailer and it tows well.
Is there any need to replace the rear coil springs at this mileage when I am replacing the shocks???

If the springs aren't rediculously pricey, would probably be a good idea to replace at the same time. 175K is alot of miles, especially if a lot has been towing. I guess also depends upon the condition of the rest of the truck.

If ther rear ends not sagging under load I would leave the springs alone. I would however compare the pricing on air shocks back there as it will give you ride height options. If you stay with OEM I woudl buy directly from a Bilstein distributor....

Bilstein shocks for trucks are ridiculously cheap in the aftermarket, I put them on my last two trucks when they were still pretty new, great investment.

There are also Bilstein HDs for 1500 GM trucks - upgrade the rears for better squat during towing. Or you can always add rear airbags.

txs for all the replies.
I am going to get the replacement GM shocks for the Z71 package that came on the car
from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/, great discount on GM parts. I am pretty certain they are Bilsteins.
I did use eshocks.com to put Bilstein heavy duty shocks on my son's 4Runner, but the rear end sags when he tows his 16 ft Ranger boat, so I guess we need to replace his rear springs. I was dissapointed that the ride was not firmer.

I just ordered some Bilstein HD's for my F150 today from shockwarehouse. Haven't heard a bad thing about Bilstein's for a truck yet.
