Nice work Dan. Looks great. Although, I can't say I'm too happy about you running with all that weight gone... means I'll just have to work all that much harder to catch you next season. I should have a surprise or two for you by LRP, but nothing that will make up for you losing 220 lbs![crying](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bigcry.gif)

Nice job so far Dan. Turbo cup replica... vyaw... do have the magnesium oil pan? Someone was selling a set of the 16" magnesium wheels a while back for around $1k I thought. See you next year.

None of the real motorsports parts are available anymore, but most fall into the free upgrade categories in the stock class, so you dont need the actual Cup parts - like all the suspension bushings and springs, swaybars, door mirrors, matter cage, etc.
The mag oil pan is prone to leaching/seeping oil because of poor casting quality (porosity) - they are not pressure cast like the wheels. And the mag is also fragile compared to the stock cast alum., so any off track incident, even straddling rumble strips or bottoming out can easily crack the pans. So from a safety aspect, the mag pan was not required to be run in the past.
Most of the real cup cars are no longer running the mag pans anymore for various reasons. Either lost to engine failures over the years, or swapped out in place of alum for durability reasons.
If you have a real mag pan - whats it worth? Could you ever replace it? Would you want to risk it wrecking it on a track car? Same with the mag intake. Engine fires do happen, although not often, but I would hate to lose my intake because I know I would never be able to find another. Been thinking about swapping the alum one back on and just bringing the mag intake along in a box in case a scrutineer needs to see it.
Maybe one of the 964 Cup guys can jump in, but I dont think they have to run the original alum hoods because they are not replaceable.

so I can finally post some pictures that people may be interested in. Cage is now completed and I am VERY pleased with the results. The work was done by the name of Bill Doyle and his company is cagethis.com. Through out the process Bill was great and accomadated everyone of my requests (sadly I just checked and sent him 33 emails in 3 weeks!!!) and changed a couple of things even though he had already done the work I asked. He update me with pictures throughout the build and I think I have a great cage. (I am happy anyway) A couple of gussets still to fit on the main hoop but I could not wait to spray it. Some will also see that after much peer pressure I went with a white interior rather than silver (man was I happy to have to sand that down AGAIN)
also his welds are a thing of beauty (most of cage was tig welded)

Nice work and good progress through the messy end of a car build. Not that it matters file, Pictured weld sure looks like MiG as do the tube joints. MiG is just as good a weld in mild steel DOM tubing when done well.

Great stuff Dan. And good choice with the white interior. You are definitely building yourself a nice car!
