Default Winter - 944 Turbo cup rebuild - PAINTED

Thought I should finally post some pictures up of what will be my G class 944 turbo cup replica when complete. I currently run G class as a prepared car and run bigger brakes etc but the lure of 230 lbs is very appealing. so the journey begins.

My plan is to make a competative G class car for the first race of next year (either limerock or Road atlanta )

plan is.......................
respray the interior and exterior and then install a
new cage
fiberglass hood and bumpers
new halo seat,
delete the sunroof (already have a new roof)
manual steering
new splitter
return to S4 brakes pads and rotors
a full mechanical maintenance inc
wheel bearings
repack axles
LSD repack
rebuild turbo
injector balance
spark plugs and wires
vacume lines

replace with a light battery
968 mirrors
new set of wheels
3 piece cross member

not much really.................... so here are some pictues of the journey so far

Gary,

Sounds like you have a helluva a winter ahead.... I would reconsider taking the PS out. I bought my car without PS and I drove it that way for several years. I finally had a chance to drive another track only 968 with PS and could not believe the difference. I put PS in and have not looked back. I've found there is no lose of power and the car is so much easier to drive and easier to make adjustments.

Good luck with rebuild.

You're a funny guy Gary....I was just reading an old post from Gary Limley and switched to Dan's post and the brain just didn't make the transition quick enough. Certainly a sign of old age....or the couple of drinks I've had as the trick or treaters ring the doorbell.

Hey Joe, that's funny.
I love this thread!
Dan I recently purchased a turbo S and was thinking of doing this conversion as running in 944 SuperCup at 3,350lbs prepared is just crazy.

What weight will you run at? I may switch over to PCA and run with you .

I will run at 2930 which is 220++lbs below the 3149 I currently run. Should transform the car!

I think there will be more G cars in the future as well as 964, 993 etc get cheaper

got any pictures to share?

Dan R is the Man R!

Dan you should post the final look you are going after! The car will be awesome and yes, 220/230 pounds less will make a world of difference. It's very cool that you will be able to still run in G... i bet you will be at least 1 to 2 seconds faster everywhere depending on the track type and length!

Good stuff.

Dan - what paint did you go with for the interior? Looks great.

What did you decide for the exterior?

Keep your fingers crossed for no carpeting!
