Gentlemen,
Is there a way to hack the AMB transponder or is there a cheaper alternative to this: http://www.mylaps.com/index.php/us_e...board_display2
To get in car data? $1100 bucks to know my laptime is a joke.
Thanks!

Noted: That device gives a lot of information that is FAR more valuable to a racer than laptimes.
There are tons of stand-alone type lap time devices on the market. Some tied into data acquisition, some not. Just go with one of those.

You can't hack a transponder to give lap times because the device knows nothing about your lap times. It SENDS information to the pickup loop and the track system calculates lap times and manages positions, splits, etc. The in-car display is getting information back from that system. AND that is only going to work when the track/group is running the AMB system with the extra pieces.
If you want lap times, but a lap timer.

Very true Dave. I bought a setup and used it once. It lays in a box at home...... I use my Motec data for that now.
The cool thing about the AMB is that you get splits to competitors, etc.
We'll we see you next weekend???
