Default '05 996 Grand Am Engine Spec

Does anyone know what engines they ran in the '05 996 in Grand Am? Also, was the gearing different from the spec 996 Cup?

On a limb here, but the M97 3.6l in 2005? I believe they also ran lower gears 3 to 6.

I'm assuming you meant the GT cars right? If so there were something like 13 modifications to the basic 996 cup but I believe the motor internals were stock. It ran different headers & exhaust, an electric power steering pump, really hard Hoosier slicks for endurance, shorter gearing, a large Crawford wing, some weight reducing bodyparts, and I'm sure Motorsports had a Grand Am flash for the ECU....
