You know, this may have been some of the reason my car was a little loose.....too much camber for the R888's. The fronts, BTW look perfect.

Just finished a track weekend and I saw similar wear patterns on the rear of mine and three other 996's and 911's. That is, the inside half of the rear wears out twice as fast as the outside half.

I run more camber than the other cars I saw, but the result is basically the same: bald to corded inside half of rear tires while outside half still has grooves left.

Anyone else seeing this with the R888's.

(BTW rear camber -2.6 toe -3mm's)
Bill - thanks for starting this thread. I can't find my alignment numbers and it will be next week before I get it to the shop to get them and then reset for less camber. I'll post ASAP.

I ran -2.7, then -2.4 in the rear of my 996 with R888's. I think -2.2 would have been about right. This is with a 900lb rear spring.

Andy, I'm heading in the exact same direction. What are you doing with front camber?

you do know that you can swap the rears on R888's, side to side, to double the wear, right?

I was down to -2.7 front (from -3.1) and it was about right. I think I could have still backed off a bit but it wasn't far off. Sold the car so I suppose I'll never know.

- on my 997gt3 (305/30/19) -2.2 in the rear was about correct - guessing that -2.0 would have been perfect
- on the front (235/35/19) i was at -2.7 (my guess is that -2.3 would would have been perfect)

Bill- getting back on the R888 alignment issue, my before and after numbers. I am seeing even tire wear across front and rears, running 38/39 hot pressure. before/after numbers:
front/left front/ right rear/left rear/right
camber -2.27/ -2.37 -2.40/-2.33 -2.06/-1.58 -2.19/-1.53

The before numbers worked great for Nitto NT-01 225/275 front/rear and MPSC 225/295. 2002 996 C2, driven to an from track.
