1999 996 Koni spec builds?
I have a friend that's looking at an ex Koni 996... 1999.
He's very new to Porsche's and I'm not familiar with this car.... but he's looking to me for some basic advice. To that end, I could use some help.
1. Is there spec that these cars were built to published?
2. Can you tell me about the drivetrain they came with (what bits, longevity, etc..)
3. Were they a car that an amateur could run in a non-spec series and be happy with it? (ie doesn't need a team to support/ engine was reliable for +90 hours, etc..)
Anything else you could talk about to look for (other than obvious issues, damage, etc..)
Thanks!!!

Hey Chris!
I think it's difficult to pin down the specs on a Koni car because most descriptions start: "996 C2 converted to ..." and after that, there seems to be considerable variation. It's a much different proposition than the Factory Cups.
Here's a nice write up regarding a Koni car from last December. It seems to have been very well-prepared and I think you might be able to use it as a checklist for the car your friend is looking at. Good luck!
